Obviously the ranger is the better choice...s-dimes are cheaper to lower, have really comfy seats and you can buy a kit from most anywhere to drop a V8 into them...other then that I don't like em.

And as for Toyota, I love them and sadly the Tundra has more made in america on/in it then our trucks do.

While on the subject of chevy's, this is the chevy colarado that I'm starting to see alot of here in England, diesel and 4 door. Its a rebadged Isuzu Dmax about the same size as a ranger (slightly shorter and lower ride hieght) Do chevy owners in America get 4 door diesels or are they in the same position as ranger owners?

Im not sure if we get the option of diesels in the colorado most of our diesels are in full size trucks like the F-250 and up the Chevy/GMC 2500 and up and Dodge 2500 and up because diesel is so expensive here in the states or atleast where im at in the US

Okay...I may get flamed or I may not but here is my opinion...

To me, having owned both, I'll say this....

The s-10 drives more like a car and the Ranger drives more like a truck!

Just my opinion...your mileage may vary...LOL

Do not see isuzu in the states anymore. the colorado/canyon is available here in the states in reg, ext. and crew cab models, but as far as i know only a 4 and 5 cylinder gas engine is available, no diesel.

it is a little bigger, it is considered a mid-size, whereas the Ranger is the only compact truck left.

I have a 95 Ranger with 196k miles. It's been in the family since 98, had been owned by an older gentleman, only had 30k miles when we bought it.

As far as Chevy parts being cheaper, well I wouldn't really know cause knock on wood, the truck has never been in the shop unless it was something voluntary. It's a 2.3, 5-speed, gets about 20mpg. I'd rather take a truck that doesn't need replacement parts that often if ever over the truck that has less expensive replacement parts, ya know? By no means I'm not saying all Rangers are perfect but I can only speak from my experience.

My best friend in the world had an 97 S-10. Replaced two engines, one tranny and constantly made squeak noises. Nothing was wrong with the truck, it just sqeaked. My best friend doesn't know much about cars or anything and I think those are usually the most valuable opinions cause they aren't bias and he threatened for years to steal my truck.

Seems kinda strange to come to a Ford Ranger forum and ask us which we suggest though. Almost seems like there was ill intent, but whatever.

For what it's worth I have driven a couple Colorados and they aren't that terrible but I still take my Pamela (my truck) over anything else. I've jumped it, romped it, it's bone stock and she likes it rough and dirty cause she can take it with a smile.
