i have had both, both are nice, the ranger has a little more room and seem to rid a little better, the s-10 is a lot cheaper to fix or modify

My bud's got a 00 s10 and I've got a 00 Ranger. 3.0 in my Ranger, 4.3 in the Dime.
The 4.3 is a beast. The 10 bolt rear has taken a lot of a buse. The Gov lock is a horrible idea but some how it works. The 4.3 is basicly a 350 block missing 2 cylinders. The IFS can be "un bolted."
The 3.0 was a good motor to put in cars. Not in a 5400 lb truck. The 8.8" got bent to shit on 33s and hard driving, and the IFS x member is a massive hunk of the chassis.
Both good trucks.

Get a Ranger. They get good gas mileage, mine gets 25mpg at least doing town and hills every day. I got 29mpg on the way to Florence to ride at the dunes with my dirtbike in back.

I've owned both and the Ranger is far better reliability and durability wise. My 93 S10 had a 170,000 on it. The engine was holding up well, but everything else was falling apart. Headliner and interior parts falling apart, multi-function lever gone, axle seals gone, paint gone, windshield washer gone, emergency brake pedal assembly gone, and on and on I can go. Its like the truck was just falling apart around the drive train. My 90 Ranger 147,000 had only had the normal wear and tear items like water pump, alternator, and clutch. I take very good care of my vehicles and I was very disappointed with my S10. My mother has a 00' S10 and its been the same way. Axle bearings, E-brake pedal, seat back control levers breaking, differential seals failing, power steering pump and alternator all on a vehicle with less than 55,000. No wonder GM couldn't stay in business.

I will have to agree that Rangers are cheaper for mods and parts are readily available for almost any mod. Owned an s10 prior to my ranger and i am glad i switched. the only regret i have is the gas mileage loss. but there are cons for everything. Rangers are just a better all around truck and look better too. Go with a ranger!

okay s-10 2 wheel drive can be better becuase the come with the 4.3, but dont even compare in 4x4, and the ranger looks so much better, i agree i had a 92 s-10 with 130k and drove it like a baby kept with everything and slowly it all starting going out, rusting, windows, sensors on the motor, etc. i have a 95 ranger 4x4 with 150k nothing wrong with it everything works and i drive it hard always getting on it and i have an 2002 ranger thats my baby and they just look so much better, if your gonna lift it, ranger will look better, lower - ranger will also look better GO WITH THE RANGER MAN

I've owned two S10 Blazers and my current Ranger...
In all honesty, I love the LOOKS of the Blazer, but the Ranger beats the Blazer and any S10 pickup.
