Default Please look what stopleak will do!

Guys,As you may all know I ended up putting a new motor in my truck around christmas time of 2010.I finally got around to pulling my old 4.0 OHV apart and actually seeing what happen to it cause it to run hot.Lets not forget, leading up to this a new radiator was installed, heater core, and coolant lines were installed before I bought the truck. This is what stopleak will do to a motor,USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!
Hopefully this will get made a "sticky" just to precaution everyone before using and the results that it has.

This is what I try to explain to people and it suddenly clicks.

Q: What is a leak?
A: A hole.

Q: What does stop-leak do?
A: Plugs the hole.

Q: What are the cooling passages, hoses, and radiator passages?
A: Big long holes.

Stopleak = economic conspiracy product that is sold for the purpose of creating work for the the auto repair industry at the expense of the stupid people who use it

Looks like it did it's job, I've always thought of stop leak at a product intended to bandaid a situation until a proper repair can be made, not a substitute for a repair, don't blame the product, blame the user.

Yeah it should only be used to get you by until maybe your next paycheck when you can do an honest repair of the leak and flush the system.
I've seen another stop leak product out there for sealing blown head gaskets!
Snake oil.

I must say I have used it before with no ill effects but you need to drain and refill it after running it for a while that way it doesn't stay in the system and start to block up all the passages like that. I saw someone at autozone before that was buying 4 tubes and said he was going to add them all cause the first tube he added didn't help so 4 more should do the trick. The cashier just rang him up and sent him on his way without a warning. I never saw that car on the road ever again. Yes I did try to warn him but he did not like the idea of buying a new radiator.

I hate to admit I used one container of stop leak to try and seal my leaking heater core. It didn't work. What's the best way to clean out my engine passages? How much stop leak was put in that engine?

The product IS to blame. Its worthless. A better temporary fix is to not drive the vehicle until its repaired. If you do have to drive it a better temporary fix is to keep topping it off until a real repair can be done. At least that way you're cleaning your system, not fucking it over and creating more work for yourself later.
