Default Took my 2300 in for an inspection

Probably something I should have done BEFORE I got this truck, but I trust this guy as he's one of, if not the best in town, he said everything looks good and was actually surprised on how good condition it's in for being 15 y.o.

First things first, gonna change the timing belt. Any way I can tell if it's been changed recently with out tearing everything apart?

Changing the belt would be good idea if you don't know if it's been done before. On most engines with a belt recommend replacement at 50,000mi, so it's about time for replacement.

Make very sure that you get the correct one, if you don't your valve timing could be off enough to bend valves. Count teeth on the new one!!!!
and compare with old belt.

I checked, most Ford OHC's inc. the 2.3/2.5 Lima, say every 60K. I say if it hasn't been already done recently, that it's overdue for belt #3. Since this truck does not have P/S or A/C I imagine it'll be a little less difficult to replace the Timing belt.

Yep, it's a 2.3. No, I hear that it is not.

LOL, I know. I could be wrong, but I believe any engine could be had with or without A/C but the 2.3/Man Trans. was the only one where you could get it w/out P/S.

It's a tough decision: the 03 obviously was newer and only had 56K, but it was a thirsty-ass 3.0/Auto. I was also indifferent about the 7' bed, yeah that extra foot is nice but harder to park, and the bigger gas tank meant more $ to fill up. call me crazy but I actually like the vinyl bench seat, (the bench part, not the vinyl part, lol.) More room to spread out. The 3.0/Auto really is a terrible combo, I really had to push it to get over 3k, where it is most powerful/efficient.

Btw, here's that one I mention from time to time, appears to be a 96-97. His is clearly the equivalent to a XLT while mine is the equivalent to a XL.
