Default Ford ranger or toyota "pre" tacoma truck.?

I cant decide if i want the 1996 ranger or the 1995 tacoma. The 1996 Ford Ranger has Extra Cab V6 3.0L 5 Speed 4x4 164K Miles XL Model AM/FM Stereo, CD Player, Sliding Rear Window, Towing Pkg, Alloy Wheels. The toyota has 203k miles, the 3.0L 4x4 manual 5 speed extra cab cruise control, a/c, cd player, and off road lights. The ranger costs $3995 and the toyota costs $3995

I just gave a Toyota away and bought a Ranger. The Toyota - at least the six cylinder version - has very expensive engine flaws.

That said, Toyotas ride better and get better gas mileage by a factor that makes one wonder where our engineers were educated. My buddy has a large Toyota truck that gets 25 mpg by my measurement, while my Ranger gets only 15.7. That is quite a disparity for similar sized trucks and engines. The Ranger is lots better looking.

I tend to agree. I had a Supra and when it went over 150,000 things started falling apart and every thing costs twice as much as it should. Street vehicles by Toyota have a better ride and the engine/ transmissions actually seem like they were designed to work together but at that mileage level you are asking for trouble.

no hes not if the truck he is looking at is really a 1995 not a 1995.5 its not a taco it will be a regular sr5 anything over 1995.5 is newer body style and motor the 3.4 motor before 95.5 was the 3.0 and id rather have the 3.4 than the POS 3.0 aint no room to work on them 3.0s and both my trucks had over 200,000+ miles and they didnt not start to fall apart the only things you have to do with a yota is replace water pump and timing belt every 60,000 miles sometimes fan clutch

the toyota 3.0 is possibly one of the worst 'yota motors. I have had two buddies that had them, and they both blew head gaskets. The one that got fixed costed ~1100 dollars...not to mention they are worse on the power and gas mileage than the 3.0 vulcan.
