Default 06+ light tabs

so, to everyone who has a 06+ ranger and wants to do the light tabs (or bar), it is possible. stuffforyourranger says its only for up to 05s, but the holes are still there. instead of a bolt, theres a plastic anchor thing that holds the bumper thing down(i know, i'm real technical), removing it allows a small bolt to go through there and can be used to bolt down an L bracket. i bought 2 L brackets from home depot for like 10 bucks total, took 20 minutes to install. heres how it looks:

and my wonderfully pieced together harness at the relay:

its really easy to do. i dunno if anyone with an 06+ truck has attempted it but i figured i'd let people know its easy.

if your looking at the bumper (taken off of truck) you see the bumper cover has two black plastic clips that keep the bumper cover close against the reinforcement metal of the bumper. the clips can come off and reveal two holes in the metal reinforcement. i'll try to get some pictures tomorrow.

There's those little Christmas trees there in the spot where bolts are supposed to be......did you run bolts there or literally the christmas trees are holding those brackets on? Personally, that material you used is WAY toooooo thin. Do they bounce much on the road?

Not trying to nitpick, but that whole relay and wiring setup is just ugly and I'm seeing exposed metal...get that stuff wrapped up. Like that connection laying on the battery. You could have taken power from right infront of the fuse box and clipped the cover back on. You could have self tap screwed the relay to the inside of the fender, under the lip where you've got yours mounted now. Route everything all cleanlike and wrapped in that ribbed tubing stuff. Won't even tell it's there. Nothing bugs me more than a dirty wiring job. No offense at all, just trying to help ya.

The only no-drill way to mount lights to an '06+ that I've found is this. Using brackets in the same measurements as Underdogs, longer towhook bolt, bigger nut to use as a spacer, then a nut....

i know the wiring is all funny, i pieced it together with stuff i could find, it'll be redone. that exposed metal connection on the battery was a quick fix to get the lights to work, that wire goes to the lights. that whole section all the way to the lights will be replaced when i get time to do a good water-tight harness from the lights to the relay

the tabs are bolted through the metal reinforcement, which is the whole purpose of this post. there is a hole in the metal where the "christmas tree" is for the plastic clip to go through, you can take the plastic clip out and put in a bolt, it holds the cover down like the clip, yet is strong enough to hold the lights. it doesnt bounce at all.

heres the hole im talking about.

you can see the christmas tree from the bumper cover inbetween the bracket and the metal reinforcement. the hole was already there in the metal, i didnt drill it, so i'm sure its there on other 06+ bumpers. when i take it off sometime i'll do a write up to show the process in detail

Gotcha. Yeah....I'm pretty positive all 06+ bumpers have those christmas trees there. The 07 I put the lights on did and the Marie's '08 has 'em too. Good to know....I never really thought of removing the tree and putting in a bolt to hold light tabs. Good to know. Thanks.

And I totally understand on the wiring...I've redone setups too manytimes to make it appealing to my eyes before. Even ones that look really good to some people just didn't look good to me! haha. Now I'm planning on hiding relays below the fuse box on the fender. TONS of relay mounting room there.
