Husband just put a 95 5 speed tranny in his 88 4x2 2.3.

He test drove it and said everything feels fine but the shifter feels different, as if maybe the 95's had a different shaped shifter stick? He says the clutch is fine but it kind of "flops" into gears. Like the shifter is going to far. He says it definitely feels like something with the shifter. It just feels sloppy and is hard to find gears.

Any ideas?

Okay maybe this will make more sense. He says it feels like the shifter is too short. When he goes to shift gears he feels like the shifter is popping out of the socket.

Hope that makes better sense lol

Well, ordered a shifter bushing kit and something is still wrong he says.
