Cool Gas Saving Mods? Better mpg

Searched the forum but couldn't find much. Please redirect me if I am wrong.

Looking for any modifications that might increase fuel efficiency. Thanks in advance

sell v6 and buy 4banger

lol.

simple things like going easy on the gas, making sure tires are inflated properly, etc are the best ways that I personally know of.

searchig for MPG might not turn up anything but type in gas mileage and lots of threads pull up.

Here's one:
http://www.fordrangerforum.com/4-0-s...prove-mpg.html

Not to be mean, but this thread has been discussed to death basically not much can be done to gain much MPG unless you dish out a ton of money (but then you wont be really saving that much) its mostly just accept the fact its a low tech old school truck that didnt have economy in mind and try to adjust driving habits (not to be mean, just saying) oh and ignore any trolls that may hate on you for starting another MPG thread

no problem you get used to using the search mode after a while. sometimes synonyms work best the best thing for MPG is just maintain your truck like 09ford said and drive with a light foot, thats pretty much it . how much in Mpg are you getting?

When I bought it I knew it was going to be on the low side mpg, but right now I am averaging about 8-10mpg. Doesn't smell rich, spark plugs seem to be fine, inflated tires evenly yesterday.

8-10 MPG, that is horrible, you should be getting 16-20 MPG at least. any check engine lights or codes?

No it doesn't seem to be throwing any codes or anything. I checked the fuse box to make sure the CEL fuse just wasnt blown but it looked fine. Something is going on. Its horrible. I can watch the fuel gauge go down.

perhaps a clog in the exhaust, or maybe one of the sensors needs a cleaning, damn I have a mind freeze as to which one it is. The MAF? perhaps.

you should be getting better then that, i have a 06 XL reg cab 2.3L, but my dad has a 04 B3000 X-cab 4 door with an auto, and he gets about 23 MPG... alot of factors come into play, you could have a dirty MAF, could have an O2 sensor getting ready to take a puke on you, fuel filter, air filter, proper inflation, tires size, driving habits

found this site a while back, pretty much a bunch of eco-junkies trying to squeeze every last MPG they can

BTW welcome to FRF

I thought that initially but wouldn't the truck have miss if it was the MAF sensor? Also no CEL. I remember my old Mustang had a CEL for the MAF before. Although it wouldn't hurt to clean it anyway.
