Default good F150's

Hey members,

I love my ranger but I need some more power, space, and towing capacity for work. I was looking at getting an f150 but not sure what years are good and the reliability of them.

any advice on them will be appreciated.

You could probably get more answers on an F150 forum.

well it all depends what you need it for

good fiddy engines:

300 I6
302
351w
460

my favorite tranny in 150's is the C6

my 250 has a 351w, c6, and 10.25 sterling rear w/ heavy duty axles and im pretty sure i could tear down a house with the torque this thing makes.

go with a truck from 2000+ you will like it the best. The 5.4L triton is a great all around engine that offers great reliability. It is also very easy to find parts for that engine. Tose years are a good well rounded truck. Some of them come with larger payload packages and such too.

They all have their issues. From my understanding 97-03 had spark plug problems and something else. 04-10 have seized spark plug issues as well as potential cam phaser issues. But its all hit and miss really.

I just bought an 04 F150 Scab and LOVE it. I bought the Lariat so I could have some options like heated leather, sunroof, etc...

The 351w is in my opinion, one of the best engines out there in ford trucks.

if i was gonna get an F150 as a DD, i think i'd go for a '97-03ish, they are fairly cheap, they have comfy interiors, get respectable fuel milage (a buddie of mine with a '98 ext. cab F150 4x4 with the 4.6 gets about 18 MPG around town.)

if it was a second vehicle, i'd look for a bullnose, bricknose or OBS ( '80-86, - '87-91 & '91-96) ford, if it was an F150 i would want the 300 I6, 5 speed stick, and 4x4. if it was a 250 or bigger it would need to be ether a 460 or an IDI desiel. or a 7.3 powerstroke.

I would get a 97-04 Ford F150 4.2 V6 with a manual tranny
