Maximum Bed/Box Weight???
Hey I have a 2002 3.0L automatic 2wd V6 Ranger and I was wondering what is the maximum weight (in pounds) that I can load into the bed/box? Im wondering because I want to throw a tarp in the back and fill my box with water and use it as a pool for chilling in the hot weather when summer comes around, but I dont want to wreck my leaf springs or axles. After doing what I thought was the correct math, I came up with the total amount of water weighing in at 2232 pounds. (add +600 lbs if you include the average wieght of 4 people in the back as well.)
would this be too much weight in the back of my truck and risk doing possible damage???

So... 2900 pounds?
I think your rated for 1300#
Double the max rating, Yeah I'd definitely go for it.
Just find a cheap utility trailer and tow that around filled with water. Then you don't have to worry about breaking anything.

Re: Maximum Bed/Box Weight???
I wouldn't recommend it, we did this in my buddies 2009 F250 and just the water had it squatin pretty good.

Re: Maximum Bed/Box Weight???
Ha, i did this with my 1996 Ram 1500 Off Road Sport, But not to chill in it, because we needed a way to transport water away from our house, just the water had her sitting down pretty far, also it sucks to try and get the water out, hard on the tailgate...Y not pick up an old bed from say a junkyard, set it somewhere, tarp it, fill it up, and there same effect, you could even tow it on a trailer. Plus you could find a long box at the junkyard...bigger POOL!!!

Re: Maximum Bed/Box Weight???
With 2200 bouncing around, sound like you should use a 1-ton pickup bed/trailer from a junkyard.
