Hard to tell from those pictures. Are the flares /valance textured or painted. They look painted in the picture.

Your truck is an edge. The reference to the 2 door and 4 door VIN after the level II Ranger biography doesn't make much sense when you consider that the level II only came in a 4-door. So the wikipedia line you are referring to is just poorly placed.

thats what i thought but i got a little excited haha. why would i have the better rear end on the edge though? i mean everything was bone stock when i got the truck and it had never seen mud in its life nothing in the frame on the bottom side of the bed etc. so its not like it was an off roader before i got it. however the bed was scratched to hell and he towed with it alot...

was the zexel and option on the edge trim level?

Ur truck is 4wd so that is one reason for the axle.

zexel torson its the type of limited slip. torson is the brand like eaton.

Everything I've read indicates my truck should have a 5speed auto but it appears to have a regular 4speed auto. I ran the vin and the results are inconclusive as to whether it's an Edge or XLT. It comes back as a 2001. It has the painted bumpers and flares. It has a 6 disc in dash cd no rugs on the floor. 4.0L auto 4spd (as far as I can tell) the shift indicator shows 1,2,D and OD is on the gear shift. It sounds like a variation of several models. I included a pic. Maybe someone knows what it is.

Edit: Judging from the pic above a few posts, it appears that the gear indicator is the same there as well. I had a diesel van with the 5spd auto and it showed 1,2,3,D and OD was on the gear shift. Thought the Ranger would be too.

It is an EDGE, you have a 4 speed auto, with OD being the fifth...IIRC.

It's an 01-03 Edge. If it's 01+, it's GOT a 5spd auto. Believe '01 was the first year all engines got a 5spd auto. And yes, the 5 does include overdrive. You never hear someone saying they've got a 4spd manual in a new-gen ranger do ya?
