I wouldn't care for calling it "Eddie Bauer" but a two tone would look awesome.

The problem is with making it official. Are you gonna be sourcing an Eddie Bauer Explorer for parts, or are you just wanting to do the tan/white two tone?

You can totally do this, but you have to ask yourself if it's really what you want.

I was thinking of mirroring the style of the F-150 but like with my own little twist on the two tone style.

I like the concept. Would you add things like leather seats and digital climate control?

probably not on the climate control thing but i was gonna add a rear sliding window and maybe take my split 6040 seats to a friend who does upholstery and see what it would cost to have him try to make me some nice cloth ones like in the bronco and bronco II's

raid an eddie bauer exploder for parts man, i like the idea.

the truck would definitly need some factory - style alloy wheels & power mirrors to pull the look off though. i'd also color match the door handles, grille surround & bumpers, then do the two tone.

i've been tossing around the idea of doing a "lariat" style interior on my truck... basically load it out with every option meant for exploders, and a leather 60/40 bench... but that's WAY down the road, lol.

Been there done that on my F150. Sourcing the parts on a 32 year old vehicle isn't as easy as it would be for an Explorer. To make it worse, the Ranger Lariat trim level was only offered in 1978-1981, and the only trim parts that would fit my truck were from 1980-1981, so it was definitely a fun swap.

I would like to find some explorers that have something but the junk yards near here are full of gutted explorers or theyre just not worth the restoration for the price. i usually go to the u pull it for stuff i need but its a bitch tryin' to find anything worth slavageing there unless you buy "Premium" then its doubble the anal enlargement for almost the same stuff

lol, i bet. didin't they have the lariat option on the '81-'86 trucks too though?

bet you'd kill for this, last year i was at a swap meet, one guy had all the woodgrain lariat dash peices, NOS still in the ford wrappers, $3 each i was gonna pick 'em up, but had to bring lunch back to our stand. got back & they were gone...

that sucks man, still you could probibly find the parts, little by little... it'd just take a while. you could also check craigslist, seems like there's always someone parting an exploder out on there, lol.

They did, but the Ranger Lariat (1980-1981) and XLT Lariat (1982-1984, 1985-1986) are still pretty different from each other. The radio bezels are the same 1980-1984, but the nameplates on the bezels are different. The Ranger Lariat woodgrain door trim panels are aluminum versus the XLT Lariat woodgrain door trim panels which are plastic. The lower trim moldings on 1980-April, 1981 trucks are different than trucks built after April 1981. And quite a few other things are different as well.

If that was a factory Ranger Lariat radio bezel you saw for $3, you should definitely feel like kicking yourself. I paid $45 shipped for the ones in my truck. Only one company in the entire United States is known to have just the Ranger Lariat name plates that go at the top of the bezel, and they want $74 EACH for them.

lol yeah, i was, like i said factory original NOS lariat radio bezel and all the other dash peices, although i'm fairly sure they were from an XLT lariat. i did manage to make up for it by buying an NOS tailgate window motor for a suburban from the same guy for $5, took it to carlisle and sold it for $50
