hi everyone,i have a 2000 model 2.5 diesel ford ranger i turn the key to start all dash lights work red security key light goes out suggesting the chip in the key is ok.but it will not engage starter,starter&solenoid are fine,if i take the key out & try again after numerous attempts it will start,i would be gratefull if anyone could help me on this before it packs up altogether ,cheers marty

It could be the sensor in your ignition is going out, try a different key I know those keys are expensive but I found a local key shop that made me one for $50. I'm not sure if they can replace the sensor-in your ignition or if its cheaper to just replace the whole ignition.
