Default timing and other things

I just bought this pickup and it has 102,000 miles on it. I don't know if the timing belt has been changed and I don't know when it is due. Can anyone tell me what mileage the timing belt is recommended to be changed? And what else needs to be done to keep it a good running truck? Oil was just changed. What filter is recommended? Walmart?

Another thing is on the instrument panel, below the speedometer there is a long rectangle black box. I've not seen any lights or anything light up in that box. Is it anything or not?

I also want to add another battery underneath the hood to help in powering my Ham and CB radios. Has anyone else done this? Maybe not put it under the hood but somewhere else? Any recommendations?

I think I'll start with theses questions and see what I get before I go on to the next set of questions.

Thanks for the help, Jerry...

I would say the 100K mark would be a good time to service regardless if you know or not if it has been serviced

that blank rectangular box in your instrument cluster is just a blank covering the shift indicator for an automatic trans .

OK, Thanks guys.
I didn't think about the blank for the automatic trans indicator.
And I was thinking about doing the Timing belt but is there something else I need to buy besides the belt while I'm in there? Gears, idler pulley, guides, anything?

I know when we did my sister in laws cavalier. Oriellys had a timing belt kit with everything you needed down to the front cover gasket and sealer
