Default the wheel fell off.

from what i can tell the c-clip that holds the axel shaft in fell off and got logged in the running gear. i am curious to see how yal would approach fixing this problem. junkyard axle or axle overhaul. how many of you have had this problem?

good time to regear? are the ring & pinion OK? I would look into a C clip eliminator. Aussie Lockers work well under a small truck. Just sayin' y'know

pics of the damage, there was also a chip out of the pinion(not in pics)
o yes, cost of repair...150$ for an axle but they wouldent let me pull it(probably because i was formaly dressed from a x-mas party) so another 150$ pull charge applyed.

in regaurds to the video... my dad came to help load the truck on a trailer and i ask where should put his tow strap. his reply...you guessed it "on the part of the truck that the wheel fell off"

MICKEY!!! Where you located at in Oregon?!?!?? I've got a 50,000 mile 7.5 3.73 from an 01 Ranger sitting in front of my shop. Shoot me a PM if interested. I'm in the portland area.

Same thing happened to my old axle that's installed under my buddy's truck...happened to my buddy. Gear guy told me clutch drops cause centerpin movement issues which lead to the side gear breaking. And that allowed the shaft to slide-in and release the c-clip and inturn, byebye axle shaft. lol. Glad your alright.
