It's all in your head man.. The throttle response is better because you like the sound and your mashing the gas harder. In reality your intake temperature is higher, your computer is pulling timing or dumping more fuel, and getting the same if not less power than your truck came with stock.

Jp7, you sound jus like one of my buddies.. me and him can go back and forth all day about exhaust and power. His car of choice is a honda protige. mines a truck.. He'll tell me any day to get the $450 exhaust w/ the $450 cold air intake, and get it chipped, and tuned and throw a turbo/supercharger in it and he won't drive it unless he's got a mini laptop in it to tune it to perfection before he drives it. Ok ya maybe my exhaust idea doesn't add a ton of HP but for $35 overall I like the sound it gives and my 4.0 is plenty powerful enough. I still have the "redneck" in me enough to be happy w/ wat i got w/o the perfection. I threw out that idea to the person asking the question as a cheap alternative as everyone else in this forum is asking about prices

If your purchase makes you happy, then I'm happy for you. I just laugh at all the turkeys that think it makes a difference in mileage or performance on a new, properly running vehicle. I'm sure the 4.0 properly maintained is very performing on a ranger. My 3.0, and 2.3 do the job just fine- I've never ridden in a 4.0. It all comes down the fact that most of the OPs in these type threads don't understand how modern vehicles are built, designed or tuned.

I blame the "Fast & Furious" movies.

I'm not trying to put anyone down its just disappointing when people believe what they hear about automobiles with no factual data. You forget I do this for a living.

I don't see what's wrong with correcting misconceptions.

It just gets to me how people never search.

things like....

"I want to take the cats off my truck"
"what exhaust gives the best power"
"I made my own cold air intake, and now the truck is sooo fast"
"Mileage wayyyy better after CAI install!"

it is, which is why they'll find the answers to specific questions on this site already explained when they use the search button. lol
it just gets a little tiring answering 'can i take my cats off for more power?' type questions all day
