Default Transmission Fluid

When I got my ranger the transmission fluid was way way high up the dip stick cold.

The dip stick markings say dont ad fluid if level in xxx area when at idle hot.

I'd read that too much fluid could cause problems. So, I sucked out about 700ml with a syringe and tube. The Fluid hot is still above the XXX.

Am I doing the right thing bringing the level down to the XXX area when hot? Seems I'm taking a lot of fluid out. It does move through the gears more smoothly with the fluid lower.

Should I be taking more out?

Al

Yes, keep taking fluid out until it reads full or in the xxx area when hot. Too much fluid can cause issues.
