I am looking through E-bay and I see two after market air intakes.1 is $69.00 and the other is $242.00.Can anyone tell me why K&N is 242 compared to a 69 dollar one?

It would be easier to compare the two products if you posted the links to them...

im not sure which truck you got, but for my truck, a K&N will free up 10hp, mine is an 05 vulcan v6.

The K&N FIPK kit blows. It does not effectively shield from hot engine bay heat. No you won't get 10hp from it. 2-3 at best on a really good day. Depending on what truck you have I would buy the Volant intake. That intake encloses the filter in a box and sucks the cool air from the stock location. Although if this is the only mod to the truck I wouldn't get any intake. You won't feel the difference. If you want sound take the snorkel out of the box and buy a K&N drop in filter so you can just wash it.

The difference is one is more of a ripoff than the other.

You can probably get double the HP of any of these intakes just adjusting your timing and fuel a bit with the stock hardware.

You have to remember that most of the people that think an intake alone will get them a 4398728 hp increase would have no idea how to do anything like this.
