Default Ranger is a death trap

I wanted to buy a brand new Ranger Diesel. Well, I am glad I found this video. Just look what happens to that piece of **** they dare to call a Ford !!!!

I have heard that only a Mitsubishi L200 is a little safer. All the rest of those pick-ups are just one way tickets to hell.

I am going to buy a decent car : a Renault Koleos. Also four wheel drive, much better diesel engine en much much much safer.

I am sorry, but I happen to care about the safety of my wife and children.

Ford SUCKS !

well, Renault is building the safest cars in the world at this moment. Safer than Volvo.
The Clio, Laguna, Espace, Vel Satis, Mégane, Scénic and Koleos all have 5 stars. The Ranger got only 2 stars in these famous Euro NCAP crash tests...
A Le Car was a Renault 5 from the 1970's. That's like talking about a Ford PINTO ! Remember how those Pintos burst into flames without any reason?

But, other Ford cars are often very good, I am just disappointed in the Ranger.

well for one, rangers arent made as a passenger truck, atleast not here. theyre tested as commerical vehicles, and those tests are less stringent

Concorde. . We all know every car company has it's le car's and pintos. I bet Renault is making some good cars. You are wasting good productive energy coming in here and bashing Fords Trucks. Sell your ranger buy a Renault and be happy.

I was making a comment that when i think of Renault I think of Lecar and when I think of Ford I think of good trucks!

A double cab or extended cab pick up is never going to be as safe as a passenger car they're made for towing, loading and working. But despite the video I'd rather take my chances in a Ranger vs some of the tiny little eco friendly cars on the road today. I've got a Toyota Avensis aswell as a Ranger which is one of the safest cars out, 5 star safety but moving people safely is the only thing its designed for not towing or working like the ranger.

I can't speak for the foreign Rangers, but the American version most definitely does not "suck".

Everyone is fully entitled to their personal opinions. The way in which one expresses those opinions, however, tells volumes about their character.

"one way tickets to hell". I'm not the most religious guy around, but I'm pretty sure most major religions would attribute eternity in hell to your behavior on earth - not the manner or vehicle in which you perished.

"Ford SUCKS" Why? Because they sell a vehicle that meets ALL safety requirements in EVERY country in which it is offered? If you feel the Euro standards for pickups are less than satisfactory, it seems your passion would be better directed towards working to change them.

"I am sorry, but I happen to care about the safety of my wife and children."

I'm certain you do, and I am equally certain that you did not intend to imply that others with families who choose to drive Rangers don't feel differently. Perhaps your wording might have been less strident so others don't feel accused or guilty of inconsideration?

Thanks for your reasoned consideration of my opinions. Have a great life.

i'm not all that surprised at the results, last time the frame got any real changes was what? 1993? in 98 they dropped the TTB for torsion bar ifs and dropped the i-beams for control arms, but the frame is pretty much the same right? its old technology

i will say this though, every crash i've seen on the road involving a ranger, the ranger ended up in better shape than the other vehicle

with the exception of the thread the other day where the ranger tangled with a semi, but its a SEMI!!!! what do you expect?

sorry, that kinda turned into a rant at the end

That was the Euro Ranger though. it shares nothing with our US model.

Euro safety standards arent the same as US ones either. US ones are generally more difficult to meet than EU tests with the exception that we dont have to meet those rediculous pedestrian safety standards that the EU models have to meet that result in funny looking front ends on everything now .

First i would like to say i understand about you looking out for your family. So for their sake, get a safer car that can accommodate them better, because rangers can sometimes get cramped. However, i wouldn't necessarily go on a ranger forum and bash rangers, that is kinda just asking for bad posts. Personally though, i still feel safe in my truck though. Those videos are of basically hitting brick walls, and being t-boned by a bulldozer. Most cars today have bumpers on them that are made to break and give... well along with most other parts of the body to absorb impact. So i dont think you will get the EXACT same results.
