Wow, where to start.....Why is it so personal, so the guy doesnt like the ranger, good for him, but hey, apparently he does like them, he belongs to the FRF!!!!! I dont really have anything important to judge anyone by, im just gonna leave with one parting comment....I like my ranger, I cant think of another truck i can abuse so much and still be driving it. And trust me when you see my signature, i usually get that extra ten feet out of it!, Cheers all!

I have heard that only a Mitsubishi L200 is a little safer. All the rest of those pick-ups are just one way tickets to hell.

I am going to buy a decent car : a Renault Koleos. Also four wheel drive, much better diesel engine en much much much safer.

I am sorry, but I happen to care about the safety of my wife and children.

Ford SUCKS !
get up off this site then if u hate ford *******

The US version of the Ranger seems to have fared better.... and suddenly I'm not upset we don't have a true 4-door option... haha

Diesel Rangers are available outside the US.... and Ford = Mazda... just like GMC = Chevy and Audi = VW

ya i know but i still think mazda = cheap asian crap
(for the record if this offends anyone i am asian)
but remember just because it is a similar platform does not mean they have the same "quality standers" meaning safety

Renault! No theres a name I haven't heard in years! My dad owned a couple back in the 70's when I was just a teenager. I learned to drive a stick in a Renault 17 and it was a cool little car. Oh it was a sweet ride. It was a sad day indeed when he traded it in for a Cadilac. I went from cool to nerd in just one day. My sister bought a LaCar and it was a lemon. A real piece of shit!

I can only speak from experience: Please note, our SA Spec is not the US spec Ranger - a lot smaller, but anyway...

Last December I drove home one night after a weekend away - hit a cow walking accross the road at night at 90kph (approx 60mph) - bumper damaged, nothing else. I drove home, no injuries at all, so the safety can't be that bad
I'd love to see what would happen if one of these "safe" small cars hit the sdame cow at the same speed - you'd probably be dead...

sounds like Concorde is thinking of his family's safety and thats good. but to bash Ford as if they are "death traps" is wrong. Buy that renault, Concorde and enjoy being a member of Renault Forums.

All the asian and euro Rangers are built in Fords autoalliance factory in Thailand. they also build a Ranger based SUV called the Everest and the Mazda BT50 pick-up. Thailand is the biggest market for pick-ups outside of America hence why Ford/Mazda, Toyota, Nissan, Mitsubishi and Isuzu all have truck factories out there.

It did a lot better in the side impact than most domestic and foreign vehicles that I've seen.
