Default My Ranger failed me for the first time...

I have a semi steep hill leading up to my hill, and yesterday it got roughly 4 inches of snow. When I first approached it, there were other cars on the side that couldn't make it up. This was of little concern to me, as I figured that as long as I had a good running start, I could power through to the first level-off. Sound plan, right? Only one factor I didn't consider: the idiots driving in front of me. They decided to stop to look at the people stuck. On an incline. With other vehicles behind them.

Real geniuses...

So after that failed attempt of starting up again on and incline and making it 3/4 the way up, I maneuvered off to the side and slowly made my way back down. My mother and step-father came by in their Toyota Tundra and he hopped out to help me. We tried digging the snow down to asphalt and putting my truck in 1st to slowly make it up, but as soon as it left the pavement, I slipped again.

Cars are passing us all the while, some of which were getting stuck as well.

Eventually my step-dad asked if he could just back it down to the first cut-out in the median and then we would drive down and try to get a running start again. I agreed (he's nearly 50, he's had experience. I haven't) and hopped in. We got to the bottom and we started going up.

And then we hit another roadblock: a pair of cars stuck side by side...

After all that work, we turned around and parked my truck in the lot at the base of the hill and had my mom pick us up in the Toyota... I got mine up the hill after they plowed later that evening.

I'm sure some of you have had frustrating experiences like this before, and I thought I would add my own...

Last Christmas it snowed a lot here in Georgia. Like half the businesses and most schools will shut down here if there's a chance of 1/2 and inch of snow lol. But I couldn't hardly back out of my grandparents' driveway when I went to visit them. There were a lot of cars there so I had to park on the grass, and my one-wheel-wonder wasn't cutting it. Luckily I was able to slide it sideways enough to get one wheel on the pavement.

A few weeks later I was at my girlfriend's grandparents' house in our old Toyota pickup. Again, one-wheelin it couldn't get me anywhere. Her uncle had to push me to get me going lol. No power brakes, power steering, or ABS is fun lol.

Aslong as u keep a little weight in the back there's a a good chance u wont get stuck. And a good set of tires wouldn't hurt either lol

Yup...extra weight definitely helps!

Last Tuesday, we got an inch or snow in the morning and got stuck in the parking lot of my apartment complex (road wasn't plowed, just packed down from everybody else).

So yesterday, I got 8 50 lb. bags of sand from Lowes. Today, we got about 4-6 inches of snow and drove all the way to work and didn't get stuck once! Roads we pretty slushy and snowy with a good 2 or so inches of snow on the road where I got stuck the other day. I was still slipping and sliding if I got into the throttle too hard, but that's besides the point.

I had 300lb of sand tubes over my rear axle and the cheap ass primewell tires that came on the truck.

Got stuck in my uphill iced over driveway for over an hour.
