First, lay off Pintos, I had a '75 and I kinda liked it!
And you guys need to remember that he is in Hungary, not the US, so his options, driving conditions and probably needs are different.
But I do need to ask Endre, have you driven a Ford lately? Making a buying decision based on a crash test video is like buying a house from a print ad and a picture.
I would suggest you get a little more information, as well as some seat time in a Ranger before you make a rash judgment that they are a "death trap".
Many folks on this board, as you may have already read, trust their families lives, as well as their own to the crash survivability of our Rangers.

you also gotta think.... that was a 4 door, i just watched a crash test on a 2 door extended cab 98-00 and it fared WAY better than that 4 door..... to me the 4 door would be less strong because it has way more room to give. if you look at the video that i watched it ends very different. i mean take a foot long stick, break it in half....... take a 6 inch stick of the same diameter and try and break it in half...... which is harder to break??

i will say this though, every crash i've seen on the road involving a ranger, the ranger ended up in better shape than the other vehicle

with the exception of the thread the other day where the ranger tangled with a semi, but its a SEMI!!!! what do you expect?

sorry, that kinda turned into a rant at the end

The Ranger that the OP was refering to is not available in the US and is completely different. Whatever changes were done to the US Rangers throughout the years is irrelevent.

Think I would rather be in a 4700lb Ranger then a 3600lb Koleos should they ever meet one on one, the physics of mass vs mass is a bitch.

That test was made against concrete walls.. are you pretending to crush against any brick walls on the road?

My personal Ranger is 2.5 to 0.5 in three hits all rear enders while stopped at traffic lights. First two were no damage to the ranger - tow-a ways (split radiators) for the attackers; one import & one small Ford.

The last one was a bent rear bumper & brackets for the Ranger, tow-away for the Nissan SUV; again split radiator.

I have heard that only a Mitsubishi L200 is a little safer. All the rest of those pick-ups are just one way tickets to hell.

I am going to buy a decent car : a Renault Koleos. Also four wheel drive, much better diesel engine en much much much safer.

I am sorry, but I happen to care about the safety of my wife and children.

Ford SUCKS !
I have a question, is there a frame under that truck or is it a unibody, just curious.

A. This U.S version is nothing like that. B your a nOOb so methinks your a troll trolling. Ford Ranger is the safest small pickup on the Road and the most reliable.
