97 ranger 4 cyl heat question
Hi guys and gals, I have a 97 4cylinder 2wd ranger and I have a problem with the heat or lack there of. It takes quite a while to get to running temp (halfway) and when I turn the knob to heat only cold air comes out. I have replaced a fair chunk already but I am getting to my wits end. New thermostat (2) new water pump(1) new hcv (1). I am in the middle of replacing the blend door using the cut through the bottom of the plenium. I used the hole I cut to check the heater cores (recently flushed) for hot to touch but both are cold. The lines going in to the hcv ( all four) are hot and I have burped the system. So any ideas? Thanks in advance

Re: 97 ranger 4 cyl heat question
First thing that I would suggest is purchasing another truck.. possibly newer.. Go do that.. then let me know if the heat is working.. we can go from there.

It actually means piss off spammers, I happen to like my truck a lot actually, or I wouldn't have done as much as I have. Its been good to me. So I want to be good to it.

You say both lines leading to the heater core are hot....but the heater core is cold. That makes no sense whatsoever.

A reply you don't like does not constitute spam.
See the no heat troubleshooting guide in my signature. Run through it and see where it leads. Sound like valve is closed and not opening.

Re: 97 ranger 4 cyl heat question
The spam isn't in reguards to replies I have gotten here, it was the 150 junk emails I got informing me of "special" offers. Thanks for the advice.

2000 heat response
My 2000 ranger had the problem of having only one speed left on heater fan-Sure as s__t it was the resistor and plug both rusted to hell --replaced resistor and made my own plug works great!!!!- Also my heat never came up to temp so I took a chance the termostat might be bad-The jerk that installed it previously had it ****ed sidewades so it surely was the termostat-Now I got heat and different speeds on fan -Now I got to get it to blow out of somewhere other than defrostor--hopefully just a vacum hose--Rich

Re: 97 ranger 4 cyl heat question
Sounds like some sort of a valve isn't opening i would check everything to do with the heater to get to the bottom of it
