The problem is that Ranger owners wouldn't be their target market for a "Ranger Superduty." Ranger owners have already shown that they will purchase a Ford Ranger the way it is currently offered, and thus Ford has profited off that sale. From a business sense it wouldn't make a significant difference if Ranger owners purchased Ranger Model A or Ranger Model B, the end result is still the same, money in Ford's pocket. The market Ford is most likely concerned with is those who might opt to purchase a comparable product from one of their competitors. Thus IMHO, the best approach to getting Ford's attention is not "We will buy your model A but we would like you to sell Model B so we can buy that instead" but instead focusing on the NEW consumers who would be interested in a new Ford model.

My opinion take it or leave it: I wouldn't have said this at 16 but I will now, make it harder to get a license period. Get a permit from age 15 to 18. then a graduated from 19 to 22. No tickets or DUIs you get a full on license with no extra crap. Make the driving tests harder, require more in class, and in car training. Teach a defensive driving course as well. The first DUI you lose your license 5 years, period. If you are a felon with a history of evasion, no license. You get caught commiting a crime with a vehicle, ie fleeing the scene hit and run, vehicular assault, murder, transportation of a fugitive. Then you get your license taken. More than 1 ticket a year, you get a suspended for 6 months, you get in 2 or more at fault accidents in a year you have to take the drivers ed course all over again.

You make it harder to keep a license because you eliminate the stupid people then you have less accidents. Less idiots with cars. Less emissions, less greenhouse crap, etc etc

lol, thats one way. i agree that licenses need to be harder to get. but to do that you need to make public transportation better too. but at least change the driving age to 18 or 21

And that is becoming a big issue here. The rail system is outdated. I work for the railroad, the railroad in Europe is so much further advanced than the one here. Because the same people have held a monopoly on it here for years. It's time to crawl out of the 1950s and join the 21st century, it's amazing how old school this country is on some things and how advanced we can be in others

i've been to europe, and we paid like 8 euros for a liter of gas! ridiculous. but we could hop on the train or bus and get anywhere in a country for pretty cheap. but europe is also way less spaced out then the US.

It is just as spaced out, there are just more major cities in close proximity. We have a lot of wide open spaces here. And 8 Euros for a liter is also part of the reason they buy diesel cars over there. Cheaper fuel, at least it used to be, and better mileage. Plus the car will last a long time then to.

so the new ranger will have a 1.6L engine that has more horsepower than my 3.0L will probably ever get short of supercharging it?! dam, shoulda waited 4 years to buy a new truck.

True. Their roads are also built to last 30 years instead of 10 years like they are here. They put a better base down. And I don't believe the roadwork is contracted out like it is here.

I don't know if you notice but Ford Ranger' model in Europe looks more like the Explorer Sport Trac we have here.
