I will sell you a re-manufactured silver bezel to get you started out? XD
www.redlinegoods.com makes custom shift boots, so there is where you can get your boots from.
Hurst shifter, and your done. Now just make your electronic t case a manual.

Torsen LS is a better LS than the stock traklok. The 31 spline big bearing rear end is a better rear end than the stock 28 spline. It carries a full set of skid plates. The option manual tcase is more reliable. Come stock with forged not cast aluminum rims. Comes stock with 31x10.50 A/T's. No there is not a better truck than a level 2 stock for offroad.

I could put a Expo axle in my Edge and it would be just as good as a Level 2.
The main differences are appearance. It sounds much more "offroad" because it says Level 2.
|
No, no it wont Torsen LSD's are a whole hell of a lot different than the shitty clutch based traklok. Not to mention all of what else I pointed out. Not if we are talking non-stock I will eat most of the trucks on here up offroad. Locked front and rear with 37s will do that, but we are not talking about that we are talking stock trucks.

And I agree that building it up would be different. Which is why his truck won't be a Level 2, he can't change the VIN, it will be an imitation Level 2.
If I was going to buy a truck to offroad I wouldn't buy a top of the line truck anyway, I would buy a lower trim package so it would save me money for better aftermarket parts.
If you had no desire to build up a truck and you want a truck for light wheeling, buying a Level 2 would be the way to go.
Serious wheelers would build something better

Never had a problem with my L/S or seen other bad ones. I've seen 2 exploded Torsens in the short time I've been on any Ranger forums, there were probably others that I didn't see
Skid plates aren't really that big of a deal if you are watching what you're doing offroad, I've seen a lot of trucks with no skid plates do just fine
I would love a manual tcase, but not with this powertrain, I'll upgrade all that next year.
The Alcoa's are ok, just not my cup of tea.

The first one I saw he was just driving on the highway, he wasn't doing anything stupid. I forgot how the second one exploded, but he wasn't abusing it, he is an experienced offroader, I don't think he ever joined this forum though.

Big difference in takeoff power with the 31 spline. Not to mention its basically a F-150 rear end.

Axles add power? No, the 31 spline can just take more abuse, the difference in take off performance is in the gear ratio.

Get a wheel in the air and report back.

Go take a look at some other forums. I am on my second rebuild since I actually offroaded mine. While there was no catastrophic failure mine just stopped working all together. Get a wheel in the air the Torsen is a better LS. You apply the brakes on both and it acts like a semi-locker. I have since re-shimmed and rebuilt my traklok with an extra clutch and it functions better for me under my jeep.

Its not always avoidable. I wish I had a pic sitting on the tcase skid of my XJ but this is all I got
There was no way around that one. Both sides of this thing are caved completely. People put armor on crawlers for a reason. This one is getting mini boat sides soon.

The one in my jeep is awesome. So much nicer to move the stick and feel it lock in than my rangers hope for the best switch.

Just pointing out from an offroading standpoint forged is a lot stronger than cast aluminum.

Re: how to make my truck level 2
I'm on other forums more than this one. I know what I'm talking about. You think I'm a newb cause I have a low post count or you just don't know me. I know both guys that had that happen, DJ probably knows who I'm talking about.
It's not like it really matters anyway, if I was building an offroader I would buy a locker, not a Torsen
This argument is pointless
