Default Bye bye ranger

Well guys its been good, but i just got back from the transmission shop and it looks like i need transmission rebuild on my truck. $1600 dollars which i don't have. This truck has been nothing but problems since i bought it in August. ive already invest almost 1grand into it since i bought it and Im taped out.

I'm not blaming ford for a bad product, i just think i got a lemon. so im going to cut my losses. I am currently looking at a 1998 b4000 with 105k miles 4x4 4wd Stick-6k
Or a 04 mazda tribute with a 140k on it, auto AWD-7800
or a 03 honda civic with 135k stick-7500
or a 99 toyta corrolla with 150k on it auto-3900

Before you say it, i know this is a Ranger webiste so bias is going to go towards the b4000. But i want to know what ya'lls honest opions on them are. Im going ot run out and look tomrrow morning. I am a college student, so i really don't have much money to work with, im estamating since my truck still drives good (the 2nd gear band is busted, so no 2nd gear other wise runs fine with warms) i can get around 3-5k for it and my parents are lending me 1500-2k. What do ya'll think?

To be honest i'd fix the tranny. Getting something else with over 100K is just problems too until u work them out. You have a 4.0L those suckers run well over 200K. Fix the tranny for $1600 and you will be good til the trucks whipped.

I can't rebuild it. I HAVE NO MONEY!!! My parents have hated this truck since day one, they are only going to "Lend" me money if i get something else. They are leaning towards a Honda civic or something along those lines. I have like 200 dollars to my name. and the mpg on this truck is killing me. i was expecting 14mpg not 11mpg

My parents have had both Honda and toyota cars, and they never had to put any money into them untill atleast 150k miles. 11mpg on completly stock truck... yea its a big difference when it decides if you can drive that day or you have to run to work. I usally have 40 bucks for gas every week and 40 bucks don't get me far. I love the truck but its running me out of money. i had 5k save in august bought the truck and started fixing it and i got around 500 left.

Chippewa valley techincal college. I have about a 20mile commute to school, another 5 mile commute to work and a 22mile commute back home. every mile adds up. bought the truck orignally because we needed a truck for towing out boat and haulling junk.

Lol it wouldn't be to bad but i haven't taken any student loans. Im kinda paying as i go. Other wise i wouldn't complain. I think my dads gunna have to suck it up and go buy his own dam truck

----------

KBB on my truck trade in is 5k, It drives good and runs great just no 2nd gear, and when its cold it wants to go in to 2nd but the band in the the trans for 2nd gear is busted. other then that 5mins of warm up time and easy driving for the frist 5-10mile and no problem. The mechanic said i should be fine for the winter but he personaly wouldn't take it anylonger then march with out rebuilding it
