Re: How many miles can you go on one tank
99 3.0 2WD, anywhere between 335-350 a tank depending on how im driving, thats a rough guesstimate, i dont let it get too empty since the fuel gauge is broke but id say im somewhere in the range of 19-23mpg, about 21 avg, but its got 23-24 on the highway before

About 300 city miles. about 16 city...and never did a road highway trip yet.... that 16mpg is way up from about 11mpg before the tonneau cover went on.

Re: How many miles can you go on one tank
I'm typically at 300 miles when the fuel gauge show 1/4 remaining. I do another 40 or 50 miles usually then get about 14 gallons.
350/14 = 25. This is mostly commuting to work about 9 miles at 55-60 mph on freeway. If all I do is drive to work I can get closer to 400. I'm always trying to find a way to milk a few more miles from a tank of fuel.

Re: How many miles can you go on one tank
On trips where I do 95+% highway driving, I get about 300 miles on about 2/3 of a tank. I don't normally let it get down to a 1/4 tank left and it's been years since it's been that low. I suspect that if I did a longer highway trip, I might get close to 450 miles.
Update: OK - I decided to run the tank I had going to see where I'd land. Driving mainly to work and back on state/town roads, I was at 315 at 1/4 tank to go. As I haven't been that low in many years, I was a bit uncomfortable so I decided to fill up (I have an S2000 and the last quarter tank goes very quickly hence my concern). I only managed to get 12.5 gallons in at fill up, so presumably I still had 4 gallons to go. I averaged about 25 mpgs, so I guess I could have gotten another 80 miles or so before sweating bullets. So, for around town driving, I estimate that I'm sitting at about 400 miles and for highway, a bit better. Of course, I'm running the 2.5L and not the 4.0, so it's expected that it would do better on a tank.

Re: How many miles can you go on one tank
Longest I ever went on a single tank was 375 miles, and the gas light came on just as I pulled into a station. This was on a road trip across Iowa where the speed limit was mostly 55 (no freeways used). Also helping out was the 3.55 and tonneau cover.
Generally, I can get 280-300 per tank with the "California" combined cycle (70% freeway). Or if I'm on a longer road trip, I plan my stops about 300 miles apart and usually get there with 1/4 tank left. Not bad for a 4.0 doing 70-75 on cruise.
17.5 gal. tank

110K miles, 18-19 mpg combined, 23 avg hwy. Best tank = 27.3 mpg @ 72mph avg.

Re: How many miles can you go on one tank
I get the same as my Suburban, at about 19mpg. You would think that this truck would be better on gas because of the engine displacement, but I know the gears are 4.10 so I am turning higher RPM's than the Suburban. 4 wheel drive hurts too on gas milage.

Re: How many miles can you go on one tank
stock my truck could pull of 20MPG on the freeway loaded down in the bed. Those were long trip numbers though. filled up around 360miles and put ~18 gallons into a ~20 gallon tank. With 37's and 5.13-5.38's I will probably still pull of 15-18MPG on the freeway. Most of the issue is the antique 4.0's. I want to swap in an ecoboost I would put money that with the weight of a Ranger and performance of that motor with the right gears a Ranger would be easily into the 30s.

Re: How many miles can you go on one tank
Before I installed a CAI on my 4.0, I got an average of 360-380 miles per tank (19.5 gallon tank). With the CAI installed I average about 315-340 miles.

Re: How many miles can you go on one tank
After filling her up, with an AEM intake and cutoff exhaust, I can get about 20 mpg. Not sure how far I can go, because I took the intake off before I ran out of gas that time xD
