Talking Replaced Fuel Pump Today.

I bought my 2008 Ford Ranger XL 4 Cylinder last year around this time. A few months/weeks after I bought it I noticed that I had a high pitched noise coming form the fuel tank area. I lived with it for a few more months before going to my local Ford dealership to see if it was faulty, or about to go out.

When I took it to the dealership no one there seemed to hear it but one other person around my age. I guess it was so high pitched that the older guys just couldn't hear it. Well the guy tells me that it doesn't sound normal to him but that he doubted the fuel pump would go out anytime soon. I left dissatisfied.

Once I got back home I looked online for a new fuel pump assembly and found they are about $300. I quit looking and just dealt with the annoying noise for a few more weeks.

Finally about two months ago I took the bed off, took the fuel pump out of the tank and disassembled it, I found that there is a motor/pump that I could take out of the assembly and went to the internet to find that as just a replacement. After some searching, I found a seller on eBay that had the pump for $20!! I couldn't believe I found it so cheap. I ordered it right away, I figured that if I changed it out and it was still making a high pitched noise then I only lost $20.

Well I received the new pump about a month ago but had been waiting for a good time to install it. That was today, and the noise is gone!!!!!

Congrats! It feels good to save money and do things yourself. I, though, am not usually that person. My wife has a Ford Edge, and the radio display quit working so no station or time shows up. This is quite annoying, and I recently took out the radio myself since the vehicle is out of warranty. Also, I don't feel like replacing it if I can get it fixed for much cheaper. Well, I sent it to a guy I found on the internet who is going to fix the display for $90 vs. Ford's new stereo for $500. I figure I can buy some time with him looking at it, and he won't charge me if he can't fix it. Anyway, I know how annoying things can get when "techs" "Don't think it is a problem".

I think that is what annoyed me the most is when the Ford guys were like "yeah, there's no problem". I would rather them have told me "yeah, it's broke, fuck you we aren't fixing it". Lol.

i tell you what, Ford Dealerships dont wanna fix SHIT.

this will be the last new vehicle i buy, id rather fix my own shit, and not have to wait

i had a 2011 Mustang where it sounded like a rod was gonna come through the block, belt squealed, and they told me it was all "injectors"

haha ended up having to trade the POS in on my Ranger, which is flawless btw, except for the rattling in the dash it has developed...

I have the dash rattle too. It's the door in front of the airbag, I want to find a way to take it off and cushion it somehow.
