If you can't lower the fenders... raise the floor. Milk crates and a piece of 3/4" plywood secured on top works very well. Just be careful not to step off of the raised area backwards while you are working on it.

maybe i'm just a lanky bastard (6'2) with a long wingspan or something. even with the lift i have no issues under the hood.

im 6'1" and have lifted the back two inches and cranked the t-bars to match, only time ive had trouble was trying to fine the oil pressure switch(between motor and firewall, above the belthousing of the trans, so i went at it from below, no problem
