Garbage aftermarket part
I hate to talk bad about anybody in public, but i have had enough with after market parts for my ranger.
I bought my ranger at about 60k miles (now at 73k), and it needed much preventative maintenance. Most of it I've had to do over due to to junk parts. I'll try to summarize
Shocks. I bought Monroe's they roded hard as a rock and replaced them with Bilstiens. Those are awesome.
Front brakes. Wagner rotors are ok. First set of pads (Orielly's ) squealed. Replaced them with thermo quiets. Those squealed worse. Replaced this with Ford pads and all is well.
Rear shoes, drums, springs from oreillys. No worries yet.
Trans filter kit from oreillys. After perhaps 5k miles, auto trans would not downshift while coming to a stop. This caused the truck to shake while braking. Replaced with Ford parts and all is well.
Tensioner, idler, drive belt. Replaced about 5k miles ago with gates parts due to tensioner Pulley squealing. The tensioner pulley was already failing. Had to replaced them all again yesterday with Ford parts.
So far no problems with Mobile 1 oil and diff oil and wix oil and air filters.
I hope this helps someone to avoid similiar frustrations.

Re: Garbage aftermarket part
I myself prefer to use motocraft parts when doing work
I also use the motorcraft oil and filter when I change the oil.

Re: Garbage aftermarket part
im surprised to hear that the thermo quiets made noise. I have put them on a few other vehicles and no issues. I have been trying to use all motorcraft parts since i work at a car dealer and get a little discount.

X2. My dealer told me they are trying to be competitive with parts store prices.

yea i work at an Audi dealer and we have a auto parts store called KOI and they carry motorcraft parts, plus the ford dealer hooks me up to. Just one of the advantages to working in the car business.

Re: Garbage aftermarket part
Someone from your Ford dealer was sneaking in and sabotaging all those after market parts you got.

Re: Garbage aftermarket part
At first the prices at my ford dealer were insane. I told them so. My trans filter and gasket was $75 plus tax.
Yesterday when I bought my drive belt and pulleys, I showed them the prices from ford parts.com which were $50 cheaper than what they quoted me over the phone. They reluctantly gave me the website price. The belt, tensioner and idler pully was still $150.

Re: Garbage aftermarket part
I don't remember ever getting an after market part that I wasn't satisfied with. And its not like Ford is making the Motorcraft stuff, it comes from the same factory everything else does. Sometimes you will pull a Autozone Duralast sensor out of the box and it will have a ground off spot on the side of it. Thats wear they ground of the Ford oval before they put it in the box. Most of them aren't like that though but the Motorcraft and Duralast sensor are leaving the same factory.

Re: Garbage aftermarket part
i can agree about being dissapointed with monroe shocks, bought a set for my mothers '99 isuzu trooper, within a month the suspension felt worse than it had with the original shocks, we thought there was a busted spring it was so bad but it turned out the month old shocks had sh*t the bed.

more like a shitzuzu, lol
actually, i can't knock it too bad, it's a factory 5 speed which is rare as hell, and it's lasted almost 200,000 miles without any sort of major overhaul. last month it got a new muffler, hollowed cat, used 33" tires & the second set of shocks. god help us if we ever need parts for it though, lol

Re: Garbage aftermarket part
Haven't had any problems with any of the non-ford parts I used for my entire bit of motor work...
Felpro Headgasket Set
Gates Timing Belt
Timing tensioner
Water pump
Thermostat
Radiator Hoses
Bolts, etc.. etc..
Surprised you had so many problems. I'm just going to throw it out there and say operator error
