Default 2000 ford ranger head issue 4.0L v6?

I took the heads off to do some work and i noticed small stress fractures in the alluminum walls between the intake and exhaust valves on 3 cylinders. The fractures are hairline and are only in the areas above the valves. Not on them though. I'm curious if this is a problem? The engine has been running strong but had tons of seal shot, like intake seals an gaskets were all done in. Anyways just wated to know if it was a serious problem and if i need new heads since they are off. Fractures are nowhere near compression areas.

I would replace the heads. Small cracks now become big cracks later!
This is a common problem with the 4.0L motor.

Going by what you've stated.....if they are cracked I would replace them if I were you. You can get remanufactured heads through NAPA. If you went that route you'll need the old heads for core exchange.
