Do you have a ABS light on and no speedometer. I bought the 99 Ford Ranger Sport from my neighbor with the speedometer busted at 223k he said he must of drove it 30-40k since it busted and the speedometer will start working at around 55-60.

I looked these symptoms up. And its the rear ABS speed sensor on the top of the rear differential. Takes a 10mm socket and you need to unclip the wiring harness and pull the sensor out. 10-15 minute fix should turn off ABS light, restart speedometer, and possible turn our check engine light. And I bought the sensor for 15 dollars.

My 1993 has accumulated 305,200 miles. It somehow keeps chugging along. The most i saw in person was a late 80s ranger at a dealer with 420,000 on it, maybe a 2.3 Carburated. As far as i know, no major engine work, in my ownership the engine saw a new timing belt, thermostate, filters, fluids, mAFS cleaned, plugs and wires, and i think thats it

Just passed 260 thousand yesterday. Original engine (3.0) but swapped a tranny last winter, about 4000 miles ago.

I still get great mileage, averaging 23 highway, and I think it could make it to 300K easily.
