Just tore back down. Everything lines up perfect, and nothing loose.
Dont understand the noise. Could have anything messed up when backing out crankshaft bolt. It turned a little, but all marks are lined up and it has no distributer to time. Any one w/suggestions?

Did u prime the engine before cranking it over? The lifters may not have oil in them yet causing the ticking sound

old Chevy's/ fords you just remove the distributor and put a longer shaft with the same tip as the distributor in there on a drill and run it. it will move some oil up in the motor . but thees truck don't know if it works that way

When we did my sister in laws car. Filled the crankcase up with right amount of oil. We primed it by taking out the fuses/relays for the fuel pump disabling it. Then turned the key over every 20 seconds it helps to have a oil pressure gauge.

I got everything put back together, started it,and it still had a bad ticking noise. So I said the hell with it and went and drove it. After about a mile it went away.
Thank everyone for veiwing and replying>now my 1995 ranger is back on the road.
