Talked to a shop..
The shop is called iltech it is located in tacoma, wa. they have been in magazines like super street for cars like the nissan gtr-35 they built and toyota supras. But I talked to the owner and asked him if he would be interested in getting their name into the offroad scene. He said yes, to bring my ranger down with ideas and a budget in mind, and that they would take care of the rest. So; I have a 93 ranger xlt 5 speed, non 4x4. What are some upgrades/ideas I should give him and what am I looking to spend? I would love to be able to take my truck out on the sand dunes with my quad in the back and go camping, or go mudding/ hit some trails. Help me out here

Once you decide what you what your truck to look like and perform, you'll probably find it easier and less expensive to piece meal the work between shops that specialize (exhaust, suspension, audio, body/paint etc) in the different systems and work you can do.

i agree with 98blownranger;34355 on this one, if you in deed found a shop willing to do what you have described in your first post may i make a few suggestions?
first before they even touch your truck I'd set down with them and get a contract drawn up. and then to make it legal I'd make sure i had 3 people notarize it then maybe have congress vote on it and it would defendanty be in your best interest to have a judge and president obama sign it to...
do you see my point make 100% sure your not gonna get stuck with something you didn't bargen for or your screwed if they touch your truck.

Typically if they're trying to get their name in a new scene wouldn't the work be free?? You're PAYING them to use your truck as a Guinea Pig... be careful...

I've been building tuners for years and I have never heard of them and I do a lot of work with shops in Tacoma, mostly axiom. I'd say like was already suggested, get more in writing so you don't get screwed, and it might be, no it would be easier to start with a four wheel drive Ranger unless you want a 2wd prerunner, in which case don't take it mudding, it leads to funny stories for us 4wd guys and a bad time for you. But prerunners built right can do great in the sand. And make sure you have the money to honestly build something that takes into account that labor is not cheap by any means! Let alone off road parts.

Heres a link to their website if you were interested http://www.illtechauto.com/. I havent heard very good things about axiom from some of my buddys- but a pre-runner would be cool i would be fine with just like a lift kit(not sure what would be appropriate for sand dunes and some easyish trails, or what i would be looking to pay either) but also some motor work, not to sure what to do there either..the ranger seems pretty gutless.
