I don't know why everyone wants a small diesel. With all the emission crap they have been hit with since 07 diesels are nothing but a pain in the ass. It used to be nice to have a diesel because diesel was cheaper than gas & you could expect to get 300K out of them without a whole lot of problems. Now all they are is extra costs & a diesel in a ranger is way overrated.

I like it. I really like the space it has. I think I would rather have this than my Ranger. Just my opinion.

Ford Sport Trac
Length: 210.2 "
Wheel base: 131 "
Width: 73.7 "
Bed Length: 49.6 "
It had a 4.0 v6 and a 4.6 v8 5 spd auto standard 6 spd auto optional.
Obviously if people wanted a midsized then Ford would have replaced the Sport Trac with the new Ranger.
Who cares if GM is bringing over their Colorado? (It should be renamed the Bangkok) The only reason why they are doing it is to compete with the gas milage of the F150 ecoboost since their fullsize 1500 is a failure and wont get an update for a while yet.
And we all know those diesels wont look as good when they get the American Emissions makeover. Thats why Ford ditched the Diesel F150 for the twin turbo gasser.

But I suspect we might see the platform make it into the US in the form of an SUV. Lincoln says they do have long term plans for the Navigator and they said they will focus on the people who need a good large SUV that people can tow with. The new Explorer isnt an SUV and it wasnt made to tow alot at all. So what im atleast thinking is that Lincoln might use the platform for the global Ranger for an SUV, Ford might do that too with the next Expedition. Chevy already said thats what they are doing for their next Trailblazer.
It would solve the problem with the new Expo being just a minivan

That thing is fugly. I think Ford is going to completely revamp the Ranger into what we've always wanted. For now I think they are just sitting back and being careful with their monies.

i was told that ford made a v6 diesel to install in to a ranger and f 150 but it made too much hp power. the ford guy told me it made more hp than the new v8 diesel and ford did not want a v6 motor making more power than the new v8 motor.

Basically I get what Andy is trying to say overall. Ford is in the process of retooling and trying to watch their money like any company should especially in this economy. He's not whining or crying about the ranger being gone or anything. What he's really trying to say is that since GM has gotten rid of alot doosh bags and amped up their game, it will force the other manufacturers to step up their game as well. Basically I use to hate GM in so many ways that it wasn't funny, but now they've changed the way they do business. Plus GM has always been favored by the aftermarket more than most auto makers. Also for the record, GM has indeed improved alot of their products over the last couple of years.

I, too, hate to see the Ranger go away so I guess I will drive an old one. I absolutely will not buy anything from Government Motors. Never have, never will!!!
I will not buy Dodge either for the same reasons.

FORD only,

no Government Motors or Fiat (aka dodge)

Ford knows what they are doing. when my ranger(s) go away, (never will only put on 5k a year) i will just get a f150, and ill be happy with it.

even me, a 5'5 chubby kid thinks the interior of both my rangers are cramped, so an f150 would meet all my needs, (hauling, towing, space, crew cab, power)

Ford has already introduced the all-new 2011 Ranger "T6" global midsize truck that won’t be sold in the U.S., but we’ve only seen official photos of the crew-cab version.

If that is your view on GM, you sir need to close your bank account right this minute.

Also ford does not deserve such praises, not considering how it screws america out of awesome models and technology they sell everywhere else.

Oh and Ford also got a bailout, just saying.

They can't quality control a 20 years old product, but they sure do know what they are doing.

Wrong again. Ford did NOT take a bail out. And the F150 has been around for over 34 years. Even though it's received numerous styling changes, the F150 has out sold alot of the fullsize trucks that are on the market. But I do agree with you on GM though. They have changed and have paid back their bail out loans with interest 5 years before they were scheduled to. They paid the money back early. Chrysler pretty much is in the toilet and the handle is about to be pulled to flush it. They haven't built a decent car or truck for years (excluding diesel of course). The point I'm making is that Ford has quality control the F150 for a long time.
