Default Decision time

So here in the next few months i will be doing a decent amount of commuting daily. I could be driving from one end of the county to the next (3rd or 4th largest county in FL). I have an 06 ranger 4x4 thats lifted and it currently gets a huge 11mpg. I've thought about selling it to get an f150 and keeping that a nonlifted truck. So what should i do? The ranger is my first vehicle and ive put alot of work into it, but to make it highway commutable id have to change out rear end and front gear ratio, make exhaust mods, and try to invest in a superlift suspension lift to attempt to correct my shitty ride. Any ideas?

What gears do you have now; 3:73? If you have 3:73 you are fine, any lower than that and you will mileage with big tires.

Get rid of the body lift and run a narrower tire. You should be able to fit 33x10.50 without a lift. You have a 3.0 so going to a smaller tire and lowering your truck will help it greatly as the 3.0 struggles in torque output.

if your looking for fuel economy, youd be best set getting rid of the 3L and getting a 2.3L manual(same performance), gets better fuel economy then most f150 and other trucks too.

I have 4.10s right now. I want to upgrade to 4.56, there goes 2 g's. And the ride is terribe, T bar keys = bad decision. So id like to lift it again.

Why don't you just get a cheap car that gets good mileage and use it for commuting?

A scooter would be better for mileage, and you can get one for about $7000 new (probably can get a really good deal used -- if you can find someone willing to part with one).
