steam from interrior vents
I'm assuming if I have steam that smells like anti-freeze coming out of my heat/ac vents inside the cab, that this means I have a faulty heater core?

yes. that is the general assumption, given those symptoms.

Well it could be a WMD of some kind. But yea, heater core is more likely. Good news, it is cheap and easy to install. Bad news, it is major bitch to get to it.

"Good news"from 1995 on you have to pulll the steering wheel and dashboard. pita. You should be all set. I think the part is less than $30 at rockauto. search for a sticky on how to. Dont breath the stuff in. if you have to drive you can pull the hoses off the firewall and connect them with a 5/8 fitting

Its definetly a heater core. As far as a bitch to get out thats not all that true. On my Ranger it was four screws and a plastic cover and then the two hoses and that was it. Be carefule to match up the inlet and outlet hoses. Also when you change the core switch from spring action clamps to clamps you use a screw driver to tighten. Also i bought my replacement core for $23.00 and got a lifetime warranty from Advanced Auto Parts. Good Luck, Hope that helps!

heater core replacement was very straight forward. I'ts actually my 15 year old son's truck and he did the job while I handed him tools. Now on to an all around brake job.
