Yeah they need to up the power. 210hp is not cutting it anymore. Maybe back in the day when everyone had less power but then Toyota and Nissan really stepped it up with their DOHC 4.0 engines. Ford can do it they just need to get off of their asses and do something. I still don't know anyone that would buy something with the word Taurus on it that costs $37,000.

I'd personally rather have an Import vehicle but I drive anything that looks good and doesn't break down every week. My family has had a lot less problems with Imports, me included.

The 4.0 SOHC is dead here as soon as this current ranger is dead. They already axed it for the 2011 stang, it's not offered in the Explorer anymore either I don't think. That engines on it's way out for sure.

One thing to note on those Nissan and Toyota 4.0's...05 when they were intro'd, 265hp and 245hp. A year later, they downed the power to 261 and 241(iirc). Anyone know why?

The only Taurus that's that price is the SHO Ecoboost. It's a nameplate(taurus) that jumped up in all categories than it's predecessor. Crown vic's on it's way out and Ford needed a bigger car. Why have two cars about the same size in the same segment?(Fusion and Taurus).

Toyota has always made 236hp and 266tq from the 4.0. The 2010 FJ 4.0 now makes 260hp and 260tq. Nissan's 4.0 has always made the most with 261hp and 281 hp.

I still wouldn't pay 37K for a Taurus when I G37 sedan does everything better for 33K without turbos and AWD.

Back in '05 when both were intro'd, Toyota was advertised as 245hp. The Nissan at 265hp. A year later, they changed those numbers.

As for imports if you want to give me an import make it a subaru, mazda or an isuzu. Hondas are the anti christ even though I've built six of em now, then Toyotas I like I just don't want one. They make the Prius, do I need to say anything more? They build great cars but I won't own one. Not my choice, plus usually my parts are cheaper.

The 4.0 is a great engine and if they wanted to keep it I say they go the way Cadillac did and make it a direct injection. The new 3.6l v6 from gm makes 305 hp in the new camaro and in the cts. They can easily do that with the 4.0 and keep the same basic structure.

Meanwhile the other truck is at gale banks for parts development on the powerstroke and when good reliable huge torque numbers are achieved, the 'hero' truck(aka DWB crew cab long bed) will be sent to socal for the power makeover.

The 2nd truck that banks was testing on, would get a US spec reg cab and US spec sheetmetal up front and still utilizing the stock 'baby' 4' bed. This would give about a jeep length truck and be a pretty much strictly a wheeler with D60 front and D70 rear and probably on 37's.

dreams dreams.

The bed on my double cab is about 5ft but it'd be really usefull if they put the 6ft bed from the extended cab on. All the uk rangers are on the same length chassis so the bed shortens from 7ft on the single cab to 5ft on the double cab. Apart from that its the most usefull vehicle there is, good for family transport and got a 2800kg towing limit for work, also its cheaper for road tax than a suv because its classed as a commercial vehicle.

FX4wannabe01 good luck with that. That is a huge undertaking and a lot of body work lol. And why brazillian? Don't they sell the powerstroke version in Mexico?

360Sam if you ever decide you want to ship some crew cab rangers over here and legalize them you let us know. I'm sure theres some of us that would buy them lol How bad of a road tax do you have to pay over there for cars?

Like I said...lotto! lol. All the mexican rangers are 4cyl gas powered. Brazilian and Argentine and just about everywhere else are either 2.5L or 3.0L diesels branded "Powerstroke Diesel".

The reason for the cab back wall swap is I hate hate hate the toyota tacoma lookin' back window and third brake light. But love love love the US version.

That makes sense how you don't want it to look like a Tacoma. And I knew they branded them powerstrokes but I thought they offered them in Mexico to. How much would it cost you to get one of those trucks up here? I was looking at a couple diesel s10s in San Diego that came up from South America.

They really need to just bring a diesel to the states. I know plenty of people that would buy a Ranger, Colorado, Canyon, Half ton Ford Chevy Dodge if it had a diesel instead of shelling out the big bucks for a 3/4 ton. I'd love to see another diesel going into the Expedition XLT or whatever they call the new Ford Valdeez. It would get better mileage and you could tow more with it.

185 a year for vans and pick ups, most suvs are about 230 - 400 depending on exhaust emissions.

I pay like $72 bucks for my truck, which (rough estimate I didn't look up the conversion) is maybe 60 pounds lol That is a lot of money, Europe also has a wonderful public transportation system compared to the US, so to my knowledge per capita European countries have less drivers. I may have to cross the pond just to drive a Ranger like yours lol.

Default Re: No Double Cab Ranger in usa ?

Hi!

I'm new here. I'm from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Do you want a diesel and I wanted a FX4, V6.

I have a STX 97. Last year for the V6 in Brazil.

I hate diesel.

So I continue with my STX. I would kill for the FX4!
