Same here. I just hope ford gets on the ball. I have no need for a 4 door full size truck.

An article was posted here recently, with Ford stating that the global Ranger will not be brought here.

Ford's been up and down and up and down in regarding compact/midsize trucks for years now. With that said.....I'll believe it when I see it.

I have quite trying to follow what they're going to do. When I go by the dealerships and see something new, then I'll know.

Yeah pretty much.

For some reason US makers have not adapted the "Crew Cab" look on the Ranger. You'll have to settle for a GMC or Chevy if you want the "crew cab"

I think it would be stupid for Ford not to bring in a Ranger with 4 doors, whether its the international Ranger or our own. In todays market and economy people are starting to see that you don't need a large truck all the time. That's why GM's Canyon and Colorado are selling. They offer good economy, a V8, Crew cab and a number of bed options, and transmissions. Dodge does the same thing with the Dakota, although it in recent years is becoming vastly different than the Ranger, Canyon, Colorado etc. Nissan did really well bringing a crew cab in a compact pick up to the states to. What ever Ford does I'll be interested in seeing it.

If Ford discontinue the sport trac then a 4 door ranger must surely be in the pipeline. Not wanting to compete with the sport trac must be why they haven't already launched one.

Sport Trac IS a 4dr Ranger!! Close as we'll get until they intro a new Ranger. And with the Trac dieing after 2010, and the next gen Explorer being car based/unibody, a 4dr ranger should be on it's way stateside. It's only smart for them to do so because well...their compeditiors(all of them) have 4 full size doors. I don't see them ditching rangers or the compact truck market....it brings their brand mpg average up if they keep it around and replace it.

The sport trac isn't a truck to me though. You can't hardly fit a dog back there let alone anything of size. Its like the H2 SUT, that isn't a truck either. I wanted to get a crew cab Sonoma, but the beds only 4.5 ft long, its a Blazer with an open back. I'm talking true 4 dr with a 6 foot bed at least. It'd be easy enough to do. And then you could actually put something in the back!

Except that, unlike the Ranger, the Sport Trac looks like a POS.

I'm right there with you on the 4 full size doors and a real bed. But take a look at all 'crew cab' rangers globablly.....they're 4 full size doors with a 4' bed just like a Trac, taco, frontier, s10/colorado, dakota, etc. Shoot the mexican ranger that's just like ours but crew cab has the tiny bed. Crap, I REALLLLY would like to get a crew cab shipped up here, lengthen my frame for it, and keep my bed and have one badass rig. I would loooooove to see ford bump the size up a little bit just smaller or the same size as a taco or frontier, offer it in 4 full doors, and a true 6' bed. If they don't, my next truck will be a taco or frontier nismo.

I'm already planning a conversion to a Sonoma like that. I'm just waiting till I'm out of school and have some money. I'm taking a 6 ft bed from one and the crew cab from another and putting it together. I've seen the Mexican Ranger, it does look really cool. And it would be awesome if you got one legalized. I suppose if you got real bored, buy a wrecked ranger for the VIN and transfer it to one of those trucks, then disguise it as an US engine. lol Lotta work though and it probably wouldn't work, but it'd be fun to try. (I in no way condone illegal activities, I'm talking completely hypothetical) And I would love to see Ford bump the size up in the cab, I'm 6 ft 3, it's built more for someone that is 5 ft 9. My standard cab Sonoma actually has more leg room than my Ranger.

I was going to get a new Taco 4 door but then again I can get a new Silverado Extended cab Z71 4wd with a 5.3 for about the same price if not cheaper. I haven't looked at the Ram but the F150 is not a choice because the new ones are ugly, Titans are crap and the Tundra is just too much. I don't really need 4 doors. An extended cab full size would work just fine. Also If I wanna tow something I can. Granted the Taco can pull 6500 lbs but there would be less stress on a V8.

I'm actually looking at older Suburbans rather than a crew cab full size. I want a Duramax or a Cummins, but I was looking at an older 3/4 ton Suburban with the 6.5l turbodiesel because they are cheaperHaul people and tow. That's about all I need.

But if Ford came out with a crew cab Ranger and a V8 or a higher horsepower 6 cylinder and stuck it in these trucks, make it tow more and better mileage as well as have a host of options and cheaper than a Tacoma, I'm sure they would sell a boat load. I don't buy foreign trucks. I grew up on Domestics that's the way I want to go and I have plenty of buddies that are the same way.
