We've got alot of this in my town too. but its mostly silverados that they get here since that truck is a status symbol for "cool" in my area. (yeah my area is pro-chevy gay).
I'd really love a 5.0 in my Ranger so I can get next to one of these teenage fags at a red light and teach em a lesson about power-to-weight.

it pisses me off, about 99% of them have all the work done by someone else and don't know anything about working on their trucks (my favorite was the kid who had a 4.3 silverado with super 44 duals swearing he had a 350, even after we popped the hood LOL)
my truck may be slow and small but at least I built it, that 5.0 sounds nice thats my next project too if the funds ever show up haha

For what my '04 stickered at when I bought it (but not what I paid)-$26000-, I could have gotten a 150, but I don't need a full-size. In fact, except for the 5 or 10 times a year that I run stuff to the dump or bring some lumber home from work, I don't need a truck at all! This is my 5th Ranger, and every time I've gotten rid of one for a sporty car, I've missed the Ranger. It's just the right size, gets decent mileage, and at this point, I pretty much know them inside and out.

Had an 07' F150 and traded it for the 09' FX$. the ranger is smaller for the trails I go on and cheaper in gas when I am towing for work on highway. Everyone else in my company has full size F150's, Rams and chevy/gmc's. My ranger has outlasted them in everyway. slight mods made it tow better with the same 6000lb load at 24' long x 100" wide. 2 tanks to Ottawa from windsor at 75$/tank compared to $150/tank for an additional 50-100km but still 2 tanks.

I got my ranger mostly cause I needed a truck. I got the 2.5 for gas because school is far. I got the year and model because of the price I got it for.
I got this truck because it fit what I needed and what I'm using it for.
But when i'm done with school in 4 months I might up to an F150 or 1500. Mostly because I want more power.
Depends if theres any decent 4.0 4x4 rangers left..Then I get that.
Other then that, thats my story =P

Told the wife that I was going to buy a truck when I had a mid-life crisis. Bought a junker Datsun to haul my tools to the job. That thing was a crisis.

Then, I found an 86 ranger at an estate auction in the early 90's and got it for 3 grand. Loved that truck, but I desired 4 wheel drive and air conditioning, plus a little more room behind the seats. So....

in 2000 I sold that 86 to a friend, who actually drove me over in it to the dealership where I leased the Ranger I've owned since. It is everything I would ever want in a truck, though underpowered while the air conditioner is running.

I saw it up on a display ramp the day my son wanted to test drive a mustang and got to talking to the sales guy. At the time, I could lease it for 750 down and 287 a month. Took it home without hesitation.

Now a bigger bed could be my only desire.

Bought 2000 Ranger for $500 spent $700 repairs = $1,200.
Parts are cheap and there are lots of them in junkyards.

Can sell my Ranger for $1,500 today or a year from today for $1,500.
F-150 start at $2000 for the same year mileage and condition etc.

Simple math F-150 pay more get more. Ranger pay less get less. Dollar for dollar you get more for the Ranger.

Ford claims that people who buy rangers dont buy them for work, or even to use the bed. And that that's why people get F150s.
Yet in my city, every fullsize is owned by soccer moms who dont use the bed, and every Ranger is a work truck used for work.

X2, if people want a work truck they either buy a Ranger or a F250/F350. F150s here are pretty much all crew cabs and ppl carriers

I would have bought an F150 if I could have gotten it with a manual transmission.

[QUOTE=djfllmn;564226]had no need for a fullsize...hell i really have no use for a truck but i like driving one over a car and when i need to haul something having a truck is nice...except everybody tries to be your best friend so you haul shit for them lol

----------

Get a tanneau cover and that will solve that problem! =)

I bought one because of the use... I don't need everything a F150 can do and I enjoy my mpg much more!

Just sold my ranger for a f150 lol
I wanted a f150 because: more power, more interior space, larger towing capacity, I enjoy driving a v8 powered vehicle, I'd rather put money into a fullsize than a ranger

I am really fond of these f150's, I just wish they weren't so old.
