Default Re: Reason for purchasing ranger vs f150?

I drove a Mitsubishi Eclipse as my daily driver until I bought my Ranger.

I have a few reasons as to why I picked a Ranger for a pickup.

1. Looks and style, I know some people may think it is a dated look but I like it a lot. I don't feel that my truck is trying to "show off" to anyone, it's just an honest truck. I have never liked the way S-10/Colorado looked or the Tundras.... I never really looked at other small trucks.

2. MPG, out of the trucks I looked into the Ranger beat them all, by at least a few MPG. Hell it gets better MPG than my Eclipse!

3. Size, I don't need anything bigger than a Ranger, like others have said, I can park it in my garage easily, maneuver around traffic easily, and being only 5'10" and 125# I don't look silly in it, lol.

I always drove fullsize trucks. My last truck was a 93 f150 with 5.0 5speed and driving 45 miles to and from work everyday so i was spending around 120 dollars every 2 weeks with my ranger i spend around 80 so im loving it.

at the time, i didnt think i needed a full size. i scrap occasionally, but never thought i would need to hull another car...ended up having to. didnt think the ranger could pull it, so took a k body out of my uncles back yard(sat in mud for 6 years) and started right up. kinda thought about trading him....

Really i would have liked a 150 over the ranger. But $$ always comes into factor. I'm still making payments on my 68' mustang and until that gets paid off, I'm stuck with less expensive options...lol.

LOVE the ranger though, was a significant upgrade over my old achieva.....lol. And if i ever really need any "real" towing power....home's only about a half hour away and in the shop sits a chipped 7.3 stroker. heeellloooooo POWER! lol!

Saw the truck, liked the look and needed a truck for work...didn't need low MPG's like my 02 F150 had, nor the blindspots of it. The jingle of keys, a few mud baths, and many car washes later and here we are. I don't think I made a bad choice, just wish it was extended cab though so I wouldn't have to drive the ol' ladies bow tie whenever we have to take my neices or her grandparents somewhere. BUT, in hind sight I have the best excuse for not being a taxi for everyone.

My first vehicle at the age of 16 was a 1995 Ranger xlt 2wd reg cab 5 speed 2.3l 4banger. Learned to drive a stick and loved it. It was a good truck, got great gas mileage, and I could fit my Honda 250ex quad in the back perfectly. Yes 2wd sucked in the snowy Minnesota winters, and being a reg cab, not having much room had its drawbacks. But I had that truck thru high school and college, then traded it in for my 99 ranger xlt 4x4 ext cab, automatic (I do miss the stick )
It will haul my 2 atvs and my motorcycle just fine, and carry all my tools, hunting and fishing, and camping equipment.

I have a small single car garage, it fits perfectly in there.

Plus about 80% of the time its still and only just me in the truck.
An F-150 would just be too big and unnecessary.

I work with 4 young guys (I'm 27 and they are like 24 ) and they all have full size F-150s and Silverados. The only thing they use there beds for is for their beer cans. Yes there trucks are big and nice, but they pick at me for lifting my ranger, making custom parts, decals, front hitch, skid plates, and basically showing my truck some TLC.
I told one guy, hey man u should get some skid plates to protect stuff under your truck, he's like, why waste money, its a truck, I drive it to work and home and it still is better than your small ranger.
F%&$ing prick.
Here they have these nice big trucks and don't even use them to their full potential.

My ranger gets used and used. I get my moneys worth.

They pick on me and my truck, oh the ranger is being discontinued because they suck nobody wants them. I said no its because all the wealthy stuck up pricks are buying the expensive f-150s and not even putting them to good use.

I find the smaller size of the Ranger to be more manageable, as well as the price. If I only had a 4x4 Ranger, I'd be set!

I wanted a smaller truck. It was my first truck, and I wanted to start small. Ill never regret that decision! Though when I drove a F-450 5.0 for the first time, I really wish I had more money :P But Ill always love my ranger! We've been through hell and back :3

I brought the Ranger for a few reason.

-Size, an F-150 will not fit in our tuck under garage.

-Enough for a city boy make a run to Home Depot, or run to the brush dump, or quick camping trip.

-5 speed manual.

-It's fun to drive!

-MPG

-Price

I've had them all. Rangers, F-150s, F-250s, F-350s.

My 05 F-150 STX was my favorite out of all my trucks. But, the Ranger is growing on my daily. I like it.

honestly here, I would love to have even a 99-03 F150 CC. After having the expedtion, and being spoiled by the room, having that with a 4ft bed would be tight yall!

But, I do enjnoy my ranger. I think mainly because they have such a proven tract record. I know it will get me from point a to point b with no problems. They are comfy littl bastards and the 4.0's will bring down any 4.3.
