Re: Reason for purchasing ranger vs f150?
I've got an '06 XLT 2wd, 2.3L 5spd S/C which I'll be keeping as my daily driver. I looking to get something to pull my boat and am trying to decide between a 4.0L 4X4 S/C ranger or an F150. I think the Ranger would be more fun playing in the mountains around here but an F150 with a 5.4L might come in handy once in a while. My boat is a 17' Arima sea chaser. They are pretty light for a glass hull. ~ 2500lbs fully loaded tops. Hmmm????

I'm 5'6 and the ranger suits me better than a full size. Not to mention they're cheaper.

Re: Reason for purchasing ranger vs f150?
F150 is too big for me. The Ranger is the way to go. It is the first Ford I have owned and it will not be my last. Since they quit making the Ranger in the US I will be driving this truck until it pukes. I have 73,000 miles on it right now so I have many many miles to go.

Re: Reason for purchasing ranger vs f150?
Cheaper and better gas mileage than the older F-150s. If I could afford a newer F-150, I would but I just can't

Re: Reason for purchasing ranger vs f150?
Because it will go anywhere off roading i want, has all the space i need, and it easier to park! Parking a full size truck sucks in my area/job

Re: Reason for purchasing ranger vs f150?
The following:
1. F150 was too expensive
2. F150 is too big for what I need it for (Yard debris, firewood that sort of thing)
3. I suck at parking lol
4. To park a full size at school costs an extra $20 when you go to get a parking pass.
5. Ranger looked better than comparable gen 150's
6. No penis jokes when you drive a ranger

A Ranger is much lighter than an F-150. My Ranger is so damn quick with the new 5.0. An F-150 would need more power to keep up with my Ranger.

I've owned 2 f150s. 1985 5.0 (swap from a t-bird) and my fave, 1986 i6 300 3-on the tree. The 85 blew a head gasket and the i6 linkage went out in the column, so I sold it for what I paid for it 5 years earlier and inherited "Midnight" from my Pops back when she was grey. Love it, more comfortable drive, marginally better on gas, and can more easily accommodate groceries. Lol
Not to mention 4x4 makes her a beast. No snow this year but made some $$ last winter pulling folks back onto the road.

Re: Reason for purchasing ranger vs f150?
Looked at the Nissan's in addition to pre-owned Rangers, and the F150. The Nissan had some features I liked but nothing that would make it a hands down pick over a decent Ranger. And I decided I did not want to have to park the big honkin' F150 everytime I went anyplace.
Plus, for all appearances almost everybody and his brother who drives a Ford truck down here is in an F150.
Except for my brother's brother. My brother drives an F150 and his brother drives a 4x4 Ranger...

Re: Reason for purchasing ranger vs f150?
Interior design is one feature I like about the Ranger. It still looks like a truck inside. And the price was good on my 2011.A similiarly equipped F150 would have cost around $8000 more.

Re: Reason for purchasing ranger vs f150?
Wanted a truck that I could daily drive with decent MPG's and wanted to be able to park it easy enough. Parking was the main issue since it sucks trying to park a large vehicle in the two most important places I go each day(work and home)

Re: Reason for purchasing ranger vs f150?
I did the Ranger because all the new full size trucks from about 95 on, regardless of make, are slab sided pigs that look like crap... that and they rotted out too.

Re: Reason for purchasing ranger vs f150?
I wanted to build a duplicate of Marty McFly's truck out of 'Back To The Future' but all the Toyota's around here were miled out and rusted beyond recognition, so I settled for a Ranger instead.
