Be more specific than "the heater isn't working". What is wrong.

Double check the fuses. If it just stopped working it makes me think its a electrical problem.

Was it working one day and then stopped the next?

The problem with this is we don't have heaters. There is no heater in a ford ranger, or most any other automobile. You can't break something you don't have. The HVAC system has many many components, most of which are not specific to heating air and have absolutely nothing to do with the heater core. So saying "My heater is broke" gives us absolutely nothing to go on. A specific description of the problem is needed.

Heater is broken equates to when I turn the temp knob to hot there is NO WARM air coming from the vents! Fuses are good---blend door motor (new or old) does not work with the temp selector-- if i manually open the heater door i get all kinds of hot air from the "heat" system - do not know what else to call since most vehicles "do not have a heater". I dunno about you folks but when someone say my heater is not working in my vehicle I know what they are talking about because every vehicle I have ever seen or been in has a HEATING SYSTEM thet people most commonly refer to as "My heater"

I agree with Lord of War, electrical.
As I have not had any problem with the heating/cooling system in my 02 Ranger, YET, but read everyone of these post so I will have an idea of where to start when the time does come, I have picked up a wealth of information, so here goes.
The 2000 and newer, (maybe even before that) are all fly by wire, no manual cable control, start with the fuses, they are good, did you check them all, under the hood and in the cab? Did you check the continuity of the fuses? If all is well, go to the switch on the dash, check for 12v power to the switch, if you got power there, check for 12v coming out of the switch at each position, if you got power there, go to the other end of each wire where it goes to the motor that work the door, check for a loose plug and 12v. On the rear of the control head, (where the knobs are) there are vacuum lines check for a loose, broken or leaky vacuum line there. Under the hood, check the blower motor resister, (it will be located just to the right of the blower motor) it should have 12v into it and less than 12v out when the switch on the dash is in different positions, if you don't get any power out on any one of the legs, replace it. All the resister does is controls the speed of the fan motor, so you should have found the problem by now.

I'm not going spend all day debating the lack of information you provided in your first post. You told us no symptoms. Not getting heat... does that mean its cold air? Does it mean there is no air? Does it mean the heater core isn't getting warm? Should I continue. Now that you have specified what your symptoms are, people can actually give you an accurate answer. I'm not trying to break balls, just be specific if you want specific answers. Otherwise you're going to get a bunch of guesses.

if the fan's blowing that means there's no electrical problems in the heating system, which means there's no coolant and you need to put some in or your thermostat is stuck closed and not letting heat get to the heater core.

There is a lot more to it than that. If his coolant was that low or the t-stat was stuck closed, the engine wouldn't even be working anymore.

so the problem I am having is the Blend door motor is not working. The fan - is working fine, the core is getting nice and hot. If it matters the A/C gets cold.

When you are manually opening the blend door, are you doing that with the blend door actuator removed? It shouldn't be movable with the actuator in place. The linkage from the actuator to the blend door is (I think) what usually fails. If not that, check the wiring to the blend door actuator. In the meantime, you can just tape the door open so you have heat.

Maybe I don't read or spell so good, but I read things till I think I understand what people are talking about, in this case I included the quote and underlined the things that seem to matter.
If you have 12v to the temp control knob, and no power to the blend door motor, that would seem to be the culprit, let a multimeter make the decision. Other than that keep chasing the wiring looking for a lack of 12v, which will mean a lack of operation.
