Some people have replaced several in a short amount of time. For some reason they are not very good quality

Ah yes...the old ticking timebomb. Literally. They can go any minute.
It's the damn frenchies fault! LOL. The part is made in france for Ford, the replacements I've put in were made in france too. It's a poorly designed part that Ford has no intention to update. On alot of other models, it's located on the outside of the transmission and it pivots a fork like on old cable and rod clutches. But on the Ranger and F150, it's located inside the bellhousing. To replace it, you've gotta drop the transmission.
What it does is it uses hydraulic fluid(brake fluid) to push on the pressure plate 'fingers' to disengage the clutch disc from the friction surfaces(pressure plate and flywheel). I may have butchered the operation, if so, let me know. lol
Here's what it looks like...

Many different brands make slave cylinders. I'm on #5 or something. lol. Just like clutches, filters, oil, many different brands. I've had best luck with raybestos, but this new one I put in, is very very nice. well good performer. hope she lasts!
1st was factory ford.
2nd was motorcraft
3rd was raybestos(didn't need changing, did it for good measure on trans swap)
4th was raybestos(didn't need changing, did it for good measure after engine swap, then a few weeks later the trans swap. not willing to push my luck on it)
5th is saches brand(since no where here carries raybestos anymore....all my fav auto parts stores got bought out by carquest or oreileys.)

I read somewhere about a guy who had changed a few on his 200? Ranger and was pretty damn mad about it, (can't say I blame him) so he somehow or other installed one from a mid 90's that he had laying around from another Ranger he had gotten rid of. I don't remember what he said the difference was, except it was manufactured in North America.
He said he had been running it for a couple years then, that must have been a year or so back.
Anyone ever checked into whether this is possible?

lmfao my clave has been going out for the last six months. it freezes up on the gear box and i had the master replaced because my "no it all" mechanic said that is it FOR SURE. it froze up just going down the street. then i found a way to unfreeze it. fling the clutch and for some reason it pressurizes it or makes it unstick or what ever it does. i took my mechanic around the block he couldn't believe it. took it to ford they said they never had such a thing lmao it has not frozen up on me in 3 months lmao. it probably got clogged or something. what ever it is if yours is taking a shit just try giving it a fling on the clutch pedal. push it in and fling your foot of it and BAMB it works again amazing shit i may add hahaha
