Default I lost the key for my '99 ford ranger and unfortunately do not have a duplicate...?

Would I be able to go to the dealership and have a new key made or am I screwed?

A few years back we lost the only key to our '99 Ford Explorer. Yes, any Ford Dealership should be able to make you a new key. You will need someone to come to your truck or have the truck towed to a dealership because they will need to program the key for your vehicle. The cost was around $100.

I fyou can't, take the cover off from under your steering wheel - fit a 'kill switch' and hot wire you car...but the dealer should be able to help you...take proof of ownership just in case.

The dealership will definitely be able to do it, or find someone who can. They'll charge you a ransom for it though. In fact someone such as a locksmith should be able to do it on older cars. The problems with newer cars is that keys have microchips, which can't be duplicated by locksmiths.
