I don't have limited slip either and that's my point. The traction control system made both wheels pull like limited slip would. To me, that's a good thing.

i think it depends on the situation.
I have never driven a ranger with traction control, but my dad has a lexus ls460l and if your rear tires start spinning it takes all power away from you. In some cases that will leave you stuck (thinking of snow storms).

Re: Can’t turn traction control all the way off on 2011?
The only situation I can see where it would be a hindrance is if you needed to spin the tires fast enough to clean the lugs of mud or such; and from LOTS of personal experience, most times that just digs a deeper hole for the tires and gets you more stuck. Otherwise, I still think it's more of a mental block than an actual hindrance. I'd still like to hear from someone that can tell me why it is a bad thing off road. I'm not being argumentative, just would like to understand why you want it off.

Sometimes you need to do a wholllllle lotta floorin to get yourself unstuck from somewhere.. and the fucking traction control will bog you down until the vehicle stalls itself out (5 speed) which is what I have run into in crazy ass deep snow.

Re: Can’t turn traction control all the way off on 2011?
ive driven a trailblazer with stabilatrak and it sucks sometimes. when say you're driving in snow and try to power into your driveway, it brakes certain wheels to slow you down and makes you go into the snow bank....
is that the same with yours?

Re: Can’t turn traction control all the way off on 2011?
So it is an issue with cleaning the tire treads? Where I live I don't have to deal with snow. In fact, this year I don't have to deal with mud either. We are in a record setting drought. The main issue this year is heat and dust.

I just feel theres some instances where you want to put all the power to ALL the wheels without the stability fucking you around and moving power here and there.

...duh. thats why i pulled that particular fuse, instead of looking around to find the non-existent traction control fuse.

I only brought it up because killing ABS in order to freely spin your wheels may not be a tradeoff everyone wants to make.

Re: Can’t turn traction control all the way off on 2011?
In mud you want wheel speed to clean the treads out. On snow, you don't want to spin much because you will polish the snow into ice and make it worse. So for some typical leadfoots, traction control might help in the snow and turning it off in the mud is ok.
Also mud tires don't work ideal for snow (and vice versa) as they have big lugs designed for taking big bites of mud then that chunk needs to be heavy enough to fly out of the tire. Snow tires have smaller lugs and lots of sipes to try to grip on the ice and snow doesn't stick inside the lugs as bad.
