1 a few days ago i got out of my truck and smelt something like plastic burning. it came from the rear of the truck and it was a little black box smokeing. Ever since my sintrument panels lights are out and my taillights and pariking lights do not work. # 2 My 4 wheel drive does not work all the time. When i engage it it acts like its going to work then it kicks out and makes this whining grinding sound. Please help this truck is really getting me down.

1. fuse box? check if you have burnt out fuses. Do you have a high power stereo/amplifier? This may draw more power and blow out fuses faster.

2. Sounds like you have a transfer case problem, and for this you need to take to a repair shop. The thing you can do is look over the shift linkage and verify that nothing is bent or broken between your 4wd shifter and where that connects to the transfer case. The transfer case is the part that has the driveshafts going to front and rear wheels.
