That would be a very valid explanation on why the ranger has had the same issues for years, and no one can find a solution.

Bring your plants here, we'll fix them.

I'm pretty sure 3/4 of the parts that fail on Rangers are assembled outside of the U.S. All we do here is plan them, and perform final assembly. If parts were made in North America, then the service departments would probably go out of business.

All the service departments are thieves.

They're not selling the ranger in the U.S. no more is really what is happening. They're putting diesel engines in them and selling them overseas only now. The final day of assembly is December 22, 2011. They'll eventually be phased out like the F100's were in the late 60's. I wonder what they're going to replace it with if anything? There was talk of bringing the Ford Courier pickup back into production not that long ago. I just worry if it will look like the new F150's, which looks like something I coughed up this morning. But it does have some killer options though.

My truck was built in the us, with us parts, then shipped by train here.

I don't know where you took that idea from lol.

I hate to tell you this but most likely your engine came from Germany and your tranny most likely came from either France or Spain. It's listed on your dealers sticker. You should have a copy of it in your owners manual. Along with alot of other books and what have you. It's inside your glove box. It's a black zip up cloth like case with the ford logo sewn into it. The big 3 hasn't completely built a car or truck in the U.S. in over 18 plus years now. If what you said was really the case, then we wouldn't be able to afford to buy them period. Basicly all that is done in the U.S. plants now is final assembly.

It's sad to see the ranger die, but the direction they have been heading has been a disgrace so perhaps they should kill it while it still has fond memories. They went from decked out XLT's with chrome everywhere, carpet, sliding, alloys, CD, and tons of other things to a stripped XL with a 60% price hike and a bland as potato salad dash array. Before they totally ruin it any further, let it go.........

Don't have those docs with me atm, but i'll def check em out, i'm curious now!

Since all the work's been done for them already, what you're saying is american plants are too stupid to quality check and resolve?

That's even worse than what i posted

Not familiar with the concept of importing lesser parts, i'm used to the opposite.

The F-150 is what Ford wants prospective Ranger buyers to purchase.
One of the reasons they won't be selling the newly redesigned Ranger in North America is they fear it would take away from F-150 sales.
From what I have seen and read, the new Ranger is a larger truck anyways.
You know, if they hadn't let the Ranger wilt on the vine for so many years maybe it would still be a top selling compact truck.
Pricing is a killer too. I built the exact truck I wanted on the Ford site. Very basic XLT Ext Cab. 2.3, 2wd, manual. Priced out at nearly $22,000.00. The '96 I bought new was the same truck (though reg cab) and I paid about $9,000.00 after haggling. Sure, that was 15 years ago, but my expectation is that truck should list around $15,000 today. Not $22,000.

I would have been willing, and really wanted to buy a brand new 2011 Ranger, but my goal was to buy a Ranger for cash and not have a monthly payment.
So, I bought a clean 8 year old one.
There will still be decent used ones for years to come after production ceases at least.

Ford needs to bring the explorer sport trac back and increase the bed to 6 feet.
