Default first long trip with the ranger 4L SOHC

I am currently on vacation and just came back from a trip that brought me from Ottawa to timmins Ont and back. (approx 1,600 kms or 1,000 miles there and back).

I averaged 27 MPG (CND) with the AC on and I passed a lot of cars.

Overall I faced a lot of roadside work so the trip took 12HRS both ways.

The truck was amazing. The power was great, I could overtake without really any worry or pushing the truck. The truck handled the hills and the bends great and the cruise was good. Although the only complaint about the cruise is that its not the smoothest, its twitchy going down hill when it tries to slow down. The transmission and clutch held up great with no issues.
The suspension was truck like so it was bouncy at times over the ruined pavement (but its a truck so to be expected).

My real complaint is that this truck is not going to be a true highway cruiser until its gets better seats. The seats are horrible. within 3 hours My back ached and my shoulders were sore. Normally I would have been able to do the trip without stopping except for lunch, but after a while I had to stop to stretch before i could set off again. I must get better seats sooner then later, they really are apalling.

Another Complaint I had is the roadside work. One site was painting the white lines on the pavement but it seems the machine malfunctioned since the whole lane was white so we had to drive over it all the while making my black truck two tone. It took me 2 hrs and a whole bottle of varsol to rub off the white paint from my undercarriage, fender flares, wheel wells and the bottom of my doors.

overall the truck is realy impressive and I love my 4L

i got it off alright but the varsol took off my first 2 layers of skin, my hands burned (even after repeated washes) for almost 12 hours after that .

It was a safe trip, only saw 2 popos on the way, one was already busy with another driver and the other didnt notice or care that I was 15 Kms over the limit (i was following traffic, so he ould have to stop about 10 of us including 4 school buses going 105 in a 90 zone )

I once did a 1500km trip ONE way in my 2007 ranger in ONE day. 4am until 10pm. I stopped in Chicago to pick something up and only for gas until Corbin, KY to eat KFC, then on to TN... I didn't find the seats horrible.

it maybe just the bench seats though or driver preference lol. I didnt fancy them one bit and plan to swap them with space age memory foam chairs lol

Yes I do have the Oem tires, They were good through the the trip, not too much tire noise and they performed good for »OEM, I just noticed that at around 2,500 RPM i hear a little exhaust drone, so i wont be going for something like a flowmaster 44 as my exhaust, perhaps something like a Flowmaster 60 or something. The oem wasnt annoying at 2500 rpm, but i could tell it was there so i wont get something super loud.

That's odd.....I love the seats in my truck.
And a week after I put my 35's on, I drove 1800KM in one day. They hum great
