As of late, no but there were Rangers with 7' beds up until last year (I think). They used the same frame as the super cab trucks but has a regular cab instead.

The 8.8" axle is stronger than the 7.5" but that is not listed in the manual as a limitation. So I'm not sure if that is a limiting factor.

My 1998 manual does list towing limits depending on what gears you have (3.55, 3.73, 4.10) but I don't have that manual handy.

I wonder why they still list it in the owner's manual then (I'm not saying you are wrong). I could have sworn that the 7' bed was still an available option when farting around on the Ford web site last year...

You can do it, but for the cost it wouldn't be near worth it. I use to drive a dodge 3500 that was upgraded to have a total of 28,000lbs(truck + trailer). D.O.T. approved and need to have a cdl to drive
